7-iron twice....couple of shortish par 5's just under 500 yards, a little downhill, different courses.....both drives to about 170.....one happened yesterday, and I actually made the 12 footer for eagle....first eagle I've had in a long, long time....

On a par 545 hole this weekend (dogleg hole so the straight distance is only about 490), I hit what could be the best drive of my life to date. Left me with only 140 to the pin and I hit PW on to the green. Normally, on this hole, I would hit 4 or 5 iron and sometimes a 5 wood, but this past Saturday, I caught the drive as pure as I can hit it. Granted the ground was a bit hard so it took a huge bounce forward, but still, having a PW onto par 5 on a second shot was sweet!

Boy I knew I was a bad golfer, but this thread makes me feel horrible. The only time I have ever reached a par 5 in two was a 492 yard par 5 that I used a 5 wood to get to twelve feet away from the pin. I missed the eagle putt but I did make my birdie putt.

I have only one eagle so far. That was when I drove a short 300 yard par 4. I was playing with my son and two of my buddies when I hit a great drive and saw it bounce on the green. After everyone reached the green I went for my putter and my buddies said they were giving me the eagle. I told them that you cannot give me an eagle that I have to putt it out. They told me that I could blow the ball into the cup. It was then I saw that it stopped an inch away from the cup. My son does a funny impression of me shaking over my one inch eagle putt.

    • Day 47: simulator day! Played St. Andrew’s and shot a +1. Not bad, especially with having to putt at this simulator set up. Had about 5 minutes at the end to work on some feels as well.
    • I think you're saying it's preposterous to think that the areas on this club are anything like what's shown here: 30mm toward the toe or heel loses only 5% distance? Highly, highly doubtful. So a guy who hits the ball there and normally hits the ball about 250… will hit it instead about 238. By missing the sweet spot by about 1.2 inches? Highly, highly doubtful. Heck, the high heel barely gets into the red, and orange is only "up to" 10%! @M2R, I've never heard of "Ask Golf Nut" but I'm dubious of his claims in the video and really, really dubious of what's on his site: "Why AskGolfNut Is the Most Trusted Data-Driven Golf Resource". Hmmmmmm.

    • So the question was posed today by some of my friends.  Is a pitch mark the same as a divot?  I thought NO, but they argued if your ball lands in another player's divot (made by club during a swing) this was the same as a pitch mark, i.e. the ball mark made when the ball lands
