I have been working on my swing in recent months. Namely trying to stop flipping. Also, working my way through Bobby Clampett's TIZ and trying to use a flat left wrist, more forward swing bottom, etc.. My shots have never been better, but I am not impressed with my video today. Wondering if anyone might see something they would suggest I work on. Thanks for any comment.

Is that Bermuda or some type of cool season grass? I would think the Bermuda would be gold by now, even in North Carolina.

Oh ya, the swing :). In slow mo it does not look that bad however it lacks a bit of fluidity and looks a bit restricted.

Restricted? Yep, I would say so. At 6'6" 300 lbs, I ain't exactly a swan:)

As for the grass, NC is home, but I work out of state on Nantucket,Mass.

How old is that video? Everything is very green for it to be shot in Mass in November.

Hand path looks pretty good, lifting a little bit or getting too steep. At halfway through the backswing a good checkpoint is to see if the left arm has "eclipsed" the right arm and the shaft with your arms create a 90° angle. This should be a good checkpoint of a good backswing plane that is more around the body.

Are our misses to the right?

Nantucket is an island 28 miles off of Cape Cod. Video was shot a few hours ago.

As for misses, all right of target. No slice or fade, but a push. 7 iron lands about 10-12 yards right of my intended aim line. A slightly more forward ball position in recent days has rectified this for the most part, but it is in fact a push I have been seeing for some time now. No longer do I hook the ball, that was my long time nemesis. I have never been one to slice a ball.

Dan, nice to put a face to the name after our recent transcripts lol

I like the impact position with your lower body toward the target, and the upper body tilted away.

My only glaring thing is that at impact your hands only seem marginally ahead of the ball, or even at best.

Not that I am the best judge in the world of a golf swing, but thought id let you know what i see.

Also just noticed in the follow through looks like a bit of a chicken wing with the left arm??

Thanks for the input man. I definitely want to have more forward shaft lean and a flatter left wrist. Thought I had been doing it, but video don't lie. Better than I had been in the past, but clearly still have much work to do.

Your left arm has way too much flex in it, you're loosing a lot of power. With a very flexed left arm, you're going to use that elbow to square the club, causing the ball to go out to the right. Straighten that arm and you'll be forced to release at impact, producing a more penetrating ball flight and eventually allowing you to work the ball...

Nice rotation though...

Dan, what camera are you using? That is a great slo mo. On topic-I really like your swing, and I can tell you're working on hands ahead at impact, wich is crucial. But I really love the camera. I've got to get a good slo mo cam.

Casio FS10, got it for $100 on Amazon last week. I have a Casio FX-20 (or similar), new model is FX-25. A nicer camera, but much bigger. The FS10 is about the size of a cell phone and fits in the bag easy. Get a Joby Gorilla Pod (small flexible tripod) and attach the camera to your golf bag. Amazon sells these too and they are about $15.

    • Day 21 - Good session with driver and 6i. Hitting real golf balls is quite a bit different from the foam balls, still getting used to that change.
    • There are so many videos comparing and contrasting everything that I am both overwhelmed and more than a bit skeptical. Your comments above are much more valuable than hours of you-tube videos. Generally speaking, I’d much prefer to read something that someone took the time and trouble to write (such as your comments) than a bunch of videos, or worse, meaningless reviews that seem like they are all cut and paste selections of the same script. I’m more of a RTFM type than a watcher of “instructional” videos. By way of explanation, I don’t watch TV either.  So thanks - I’ll take that under advisement. I have an H3 that I bought for $10 that I’ve been carrying around but not sure why. Seems like a cool club, but I just don’t really know what to do with it.
    • I was using the window as a mirror. Just trying to be a more aware of the feels for a better backswing. Trying to not be as closed from A1 to A2. Then not letting the club head flip inside. What I was feeling was a pressure my right wrist, and like the palm of my right hand was pushing upward against the grip of the club. My right hand was the underside of the swing path.  Going to play around with this a bit more. It looked pretty decent with mirror/window work. Just wanted to jot it down.
