From Late October till the beginning of April you can count on it being a sea of brown. The fairways here mostly all Zoysia or Bermuda which go dormant by mid to late October and it is cold enough that most places turn their sprinklers off by early November and the cool season fescue or blue grass rough/yards start to dry out. Not much green around here until April 1st.

So depressing...

My guess is if you live in Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina, West Virginia, etc (transition zones) you see the same thing.

Yeah, the Bermuda at my home course was nice and brown this morning when I played. Leaves everywhere. It's a little depressing, but it's not going to stop me from playing.

No, if warm I will play as well however it does seem that we have less time that our grass is green in these areas as you constantly have one type of grass going dormant. By early July most of our fescue and bluegrass roughs have started to go dormant because of the oppressive heat. Additionally, all of the greens here are bentgrass and it is extremely tough to keep them up during the summer months.

    • Day 295 6-26 Low point control with towel again. Getting better but not swinging fast enough tonight.
    • Shot a 37 today! Palmer Course, PGA National. Really fun. 6/9 GIR, no lost balls. The double and the bogey were both three putts from like 35 feet or so.  The birdie at the last was really fun. I stood over that fifteen footer and thought wow I’m really about to make this, aren’t I? And I hearted it. Really fun. It’s like 9000 degrees outside but I battled through it well. Good times.
    • I had been in a bit of a slump for the month of June. Handicap index has slowly risen, and there were few sub-80 scores. Today was a different story at Leslie Park GC. Lots of solid shots, GIR's, up & downs, for a 77 (7.8 differential). As with most rounds, there were a few loose shots and crappy putts, but it was a good day.

    • Day 6  (26 Jun 26) - Played 18 today in the Friday men's group shootout.  Would love to say it was an awesome round, but it wasn't  - had a tough day with the putter (especially on the front - short putts missing left or right or just short - just could not get a feel for the greens).
