They have a practice green but no driving range. We had a 7:20 tee time and they were ready to go. They have a snack bar and the best BLT’s in Memphis. Good tea also. By the time we got through people were waiting to tee off. It was packed. I imagine it is always like this in the spring and summer. Really nothing bad to say about the course.

The toughest hole is Number 9, a par 5 that I had a chance for birdie and made par.

Tee Boxes – The tee boxes are set up well with some grass. Again it’s early in the year but they will be fine.

Fairways - The fairways are decent for this early in the year. Fairly wide and tree lined. We are just now coming out of winter here and all the Bermuda is still brown. Not much rough. I felt like the yardage markers were easy to find and seem to be accurate. There was some good water on several of the holes to keep you honest and I thought it was set up beautifully.

Greens – Again it is early but the greens were in remarkably good shape. There were several ball marks that could be repaired easily. I tried to fix old marks on every hole. I thought the ball rolled the same on every hole, very consistant.

How did I play? I still have a slight twinge in the lower back but felt good overall. We decided to walk and yes, I was sore the next day. First time to walk 18 this year.

Front nine - Shot a 45. 3 of 6 fairways hit, 3 of 9 GIR and 18 Putts.
I played well on the front with a couple of shots at birdie. I did birdie a Par 3 and that felt pretty good. I didn’t hit my wedges as well as I would have liked but it wasn’t too bad. Mid to long irons was pretty good. Putting was good but could always be better.

Back nine - Shot a 46. 6 of 7 fairways hit, 2 GIR and 17 Putts.
You start with a Par 3 on number 10 and I hit it stiff and sank a 3 footer for a birdie. I drove the ball really well. Iron play was good again. Again, my wedge play with a 52 was very good. I had several missed opportunities.

Overall. We played 18 in 3 hours and 30 minutes. They put 2 guys with us when we made the turn. But it was all good. In my opinion this is a beautiful course. I used to play this course in the old days and they did a remarkable job. The course is not that hard unless you make it hard. In the next couple of months, the greens and tee boxes should come in with nice grass and it will be gorgeous.

9 of 15 Fairways Hit
Only 5 GIR, ouch again
35 Putts and I thought I putted well.

Definitely still some things to work on.
