I had a good golf weekend. wife went to see family and I stayed home. Played 18 on Sat and Sun. Nice weather for the most part except huge wind the first part of Saturday's round (Steady wind around 30 MPH with big gusts thrown in).

Round one: 87. 3 G 1 F 32 Putts. 2 3 putts. If I didn't have a short game I would have shot a 90 something. I am not getting off the tee well at all. I am missing both left and right. The alignment, ball flight change is a real work in progress.

Round two: More of tale of 2 9s. First nine, played white tees shot a sweet and I mean sweet 49. WOW. 15 putts. 1 G 3 F.
Just stupid. 3 putted twice.

second 9 Blue tees, 41 15 putts 2 greens and no fairways. Could have been alot better too. Had one three putt. Missed two less than 5 footers for par.

Now, we can tell I am struggling tee to green. Around the greens I am doing ok. I need to work on two things, Ball striking/direction and mid range putts. I should NEVER three putt from 20-30 feet and i do often. I wasted 5 shots over two rounds.

Any suggestions welcome. I am currently trying to tighten up my swing, not lift my arms. I know I need to video tape my swing to see really what is happening. I am not off by that much, just enough to be in the trees.

Your the complete opposite of me, I can hit the greens ok and my chipping is good but I can´t putt.

You don´t need a really good camera, even taping your swing with your phone will give you an idea of what´s going on.

Lessons really help speed things up.

Good luck!

One thing I've noticed, My good balls are missing to the left (slight pushes) and my bad ones are pull hooks. I am coming over the top. I think I am going to stand a bit farther from the ball so I quit coming over the top.

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
