Straight from their website, “It's easy to see why Stonebridge Golf Club is rated by Golf Digest as the "most enjoyable" course to play in Memphis.” This is true and it is a beautiful but challenging course. They have a 25-station driving range, a separate chipping facility, practice sand bunker, and a large putting green. A very nice Clubhouse with a snack bar and a large banquet/dining area. They also have a fully stocked Pro Shop. The usual hats, shirts and plenty of golf accessories. We had a 1:00 tee time and they were ready to go. Very polite and they take care of business. The one problem I had was I had called earlier because I had heard they had just aerated the greens. I did not want to play on or pay full price for greens you can’t putt on. He told me the greens were fine now. That was a few weeks ago. Not good!! The greens were very tough to putt on. Not a single ball tracked straight.

Tee Boxes – The tee boxes are set up well. We played the front tee’s as there is a big difference in the middle and tips compared to the whites. With my handicap, I am not ready for the longer tee’s.

Fairways - The fairways are nice. Not too many wide fairways, but wide enough. There are plenty of fairway bunkers and I was lucky enough to miss them all. There is also plenty of water around the course. This is one of the best courses for yardage markers. They were easy to find and accurate. They were marked in the fairway and on the cart path. Plus there is a color-coded guide in the cart and on the scorecard.

Greens – I was told they have very good greens normally. I have no idea. The greens were so bad we decided if we got within a few inches, it would count.

How did I play?

Front nine - Shot a 44. 6 of 7 fairways hit, 4 of 9 GIR and 21 Putts.
I played well on the front with a couple of shots at birdie. I hit my short irons and wedges ok but I need some work. Mid to long irons was pretty good. Putting was ridiculous. I missed several opportunities to score really well.

Back nine - Shot a 46. 5 of 7 fairways hit, 2 of 9 GIR and 21 Putts.
You start with a Par 3 and I just about fell apart. I hit the ball to the right and short and made a great pitch and then 3 putted. On an up note, I drove the ball really well again on the back. Most was a small draw that had plenty of roll. Two of my longest drives were on the back, one at 245 and one at 255. That is long for me. Here was my problem. Any time I had to take some off the shot, I hit it fat. And I hit it fat a lot. Wedge play was bad for the day. I had several missed opportunities.

Overall. We played 18 in 4 hours and 10 minutes. They were 3 of us playing and we used the entire course. But it was a very good day. This is an excellent and very pretty course. It is one of the longer courses I’ve played. I think it is a very challenging course but is still fun to play. They have a lot of tournaments here and had a scramble just before we started. We were on our own for most of the afternoon.
