88.....42/46 6/14 FW, 6 GIR, 33 putts. 7 pars, 7 bogies, 3 doubles, and 1 triple. Wind was stiff @ 20 mph and changing directions constantly. I actually played the back side first, and really blew up with some poor second shots. I was concerned about the wind and was making very poor contact out of the box. In the wind contact is just so important. After 5 holes and on #15 I started taking 3/4 swings and was making better contact. I played my first 5 holes @ +8, then after playing 3/4 swings I played the next 13 holes at +8. Good stuff to throw in the memory bank. When I say 3/4, it just feels like 3/4, and in all actuality it may be just barely shorter than my normal backswing, but it helped me make better contact. Why it took me 5 holes to do this is beyond me.

I was really trying to concentrate on my speed while lag putting this round. My last round I had six 3 putts which prompted some work on the putting green. I did have two three jacks today which is still unacceptable (one for bogey and one for double bogey), but moving in the right direction.

I just did a comparison of my game from last year to this year. The numbers from the first set of stats are from the 14 rounds I kept score last year. The second set of numbers are from the last 10 rounds of this year. These are not where I want to be at all, but for a hacker not taking lessons and learning the swing on my own I think there are some huge jumps in some of the stats.

AVG per hole 5.3 to 5.0
FW 38% to 42.1% This stat is a better improvement than it appears because i was hitting 5w off the tee for every round last year while this year I'm hitting driver for the most part.
putts per hole: 1.9 to 1.8
GIR: 16.6% to 33.0%
Score on par three: 4.3 to 3.7
Score on par four: 5.2 to 5.1
Score on par five: 6.6 to 5.8
GIR par five: 7.5% to 27.5%
GIR par four: 20.0% to 33.0%
GIR par three: 17.5% to 40%
Birdies 6 to 8
Par 37 to 57
