During the last couple of days of rain, my Pure Pro grips arrived, so I have changed the grips on all my clubs. I tried finding out which shaft butt size my clubs had, but with variable success. Either way, I ordered .600 grips. When changing grips, I measured the size so I got them if needed later. They varied from .600 to .625, but I don't feel any difference when holding the clubs. Couldn't measure any difference with the grips installed either.

Pure advertise how easy it is to change grips with their air gun and grips that don't need tape. They sure got that right. Removing the old grips though, took some time, having to cut up all the grips Especially the tape took some time to remove. On my 5 wood, the tape was really hard, I had to scrape it off with a piece of plastic. Installing the new grip took me 10-15 seconds, no tape, no fuss. This is definitely the way to go in the future, I will never use tape again.

I play 9 holes today, testing the grips, also without a glove. I have been thinking about trying to get rid of the glove, since I have found that I don't really need one. Now that I got all new grips on every club, it seemed like a good time to try it. My game was OK, I hit a couple of poor shots which messed up the score a bit, but all in all it was fine. The main even today was to test the grips and how I played without a glove. Both tasks was successful. The grips are very nice, not too tacky, but got that good rubber feeling.

I've been playing with some 2006-07 Pro V1s I ordered two years ago. Bought 108 balls, so it takes some time to get rid of. The balls are nice, but they are too soft and short. I'm not a very long hitter, so I'll need every yard I can get. My game is much better now, so I don't lose balls all that often anymore. Guess I'll just leave the V1s be and find a new ball to play.

PURE Grips really are nice. On the plus side, you won't change them for a year or longer, and there won't be any tape to undo when you're done.

Your shafts are probably all .600. There are basically .580 and .600.

There will of course be some variations in the exact diameter. When I regripped and measured each shaft, my Project X shafts, which I know is, and measured to .600 were the smallest of them. The largest were around .625, which the brand site also said it was. I don't feel any difference from the largest to the smallest anyways.

Not having to go through the tape process again is a relief (until I buy new clubs of course).

I don't think the shafts go to .625. .600 - http://www.royalprecision.com/royalp...n/projectx.asp .

Not the Project X shafts.

Irons: 1.53cm - 0.602
Wedges: 1.545cm - 0.608
3 wood: 1.55cm - 0.610
Driver: 1.56cm - 0.614
Hybrid: 1.58cm - 0.622
5 wood: 1.6cm - 0.623

My slide caliper may not be state of the art, but there was no doubt all the other shafts were larger than the Project X'.

    • Played Sunday and implemented the Mayo spinner. Hit my second shot long and left on three to a bare lie. I have seen this shot to a tucked pin but I don’t swing across it enough and hit it too far with a ton of spin but it rolled into the bunker. I pulled my approach short and left on ten to a horrible lie with about 3’ of rise to a tucked pin maybe 5’ on the green. Ball is in a damp lie with debris behind and in front of the ball. Hit it to 3.5’ but horseshoed the putt around the right edge, which was a common miss. I hooked my tee shot into an unplayable lie in the hazard on the left side of the par 5 16th. Hit a great recovery that rolled to about 45 yards short of the back right pin. Hit the spinner over a bumpy green that rolled just over the ridge to 3’. Sank the straight 2.5’ putt. Felt like I had good control of these shots!
