My wife has been playing for a few years and we golf at least 2 rounds a month together ( live on a private course ) She has a set of very old hand me downs , no name blade style steel shaft ..... Junk I was in golf galaxy and the have a smoking deal on a set of womens graphite shaft taylor made burner plus with a 3 and 4 hybrid for $399. The online price for the set is $799 and the same set in mens is $699 The burner plus and burner hybrid club heads are the same as the mens, the difference is the womens flex shaft which I think would benefit her. My concern with getting her this set without being fit is the shaft lengths. She is 5' 10" If anybody has any experience with fitting womens clubs, I would appreciate the advise. Is it worth the $400 gamble that they are the correct length ? Or do you think she would be better off in a mens length ? For comparison, the womens 6i is 37" and the mens is 37 3/4" in the Taylor Made Burner Plus clubs.

When a company makes a club in the USA I will proudly display their brand here. All of mine were made in china by somebody making $2 a day. Shame on you Mr club manufacture.

I am a 5'9" man. I play a 37" 6 iron. That is 1/2" short of Titleist 'standard'.

The 1/2" in length moved my ball contact from the right center of the sweet spot to the middle.

Club length is obviously one of the biggest factors in a proper fitting, and is KEY to consistent set-up position and ball contact.

Why not give her a card that says "I will get you a new set of irons, up to $X.  Irons that we can get for this price include A B and C.  Let's go get you properly fit so you can make the most of these!"

When a gift requires a personalization of some sort, such as getting golf clubs, I think it's better to promise the gift and then take them for the fitting.  Plus, if there is a similarly priced set that she'd prefer, you can get her that instead.

If the deal expires before Christmas, tell her now it's what you're getting her, hop in the car with her, and go get 'em!

Thanks for the input , talked to her about and we are going to pay GG for a fitting and then have a custom set built. Gonna take a pass on the women burners as I think theynare going to be to short for her. Doing some research and it sounds like having hireko golf build a custom set of their xp905 womens clubs with Acer graphite shaft and pink Winn grips may be the ticket....lol 6,7,8,9 iron P,& SW 4, 5 hybrid 3 wood Ti driver Pink cart bag http://www.hirekogolf.com/hireko/orderportal/catalog_presentation/by_group/0/730/0/0/0/0/0 For around $500 sounds like the smokin deal
