I have confirmed that Titleist will be releasing a new version of at least the ProV1 and ProV1x this Spring.  My coach works with Titleist and has some sort of club and ball deal with them and gave me a free sleeve of the brand new 2011 series ProV1.  At first glance it looks the exact same as the previous model, except for the new font titled "" on the sides.  The sleeve that I recieved came in a white box, with a sticker titled ProV1 that someone quickly slapped onto the side.  I haven't played with one yet, mostly because they look so good and I am afraid of losing one.  I will try to get some pics up in between school days so you can see for yourself if maybe there is a new dimple design or something.  My coach said the new versions will be released to the public in 3-4 months.

i guess this link has more information : http://www.sirshanksalot.com/index.php?option=com_content&view;=article&id;=1427:new-titleist-pro-v1-for-2011&catid;=30:golf-news-and-rumors&Itemid;=41

If they are the same as what was sent to me late last year to test as a prototype, they will be great.  For me, they seemed to go farther, yet had the same stopping power around the greens.  Probably the best ball I have played.

Hopefully the rumor of improved durability is true.

Ironic all it took was 2-3 Vokey shots to rip the ProV to shreds.

Waiting out the 2 feet of snow that just dropped on the course....

The improved durability is true, as stated in the "fact" column of the link I have provided.

As for the shredding, Vokey's are rediculous and they will continue to chew any mid-high spin ball apart.  I guess if you pay for the spin milled, you shall get all the spin you desire. :DDD  The shredding was the main reason that I replaced all of my Vokeys.  There are other sensible solutions that won't rip balls to shreds.

perhaps the new ball due out this spring is the reason everyone is selling the current prov1s for $39.  can't wait to try the new ones.

I have been playing the new ProV1x for about 2 months now!  I love them!  I've seen a slightly higher duribility (I chew a ball to pieces), but they are hot of the tee!  Cosmetically I'm not sure, as Harmonius probably saw on his prototypes, mine say "test" on the side.  I have seen several versions, but I believe the one they have stuck on is a winner!

The new Pro V1 works for me and comes the closing thing to checking I've ever came to. Definitely recommend this ball!

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
