Sort of an experiment I wanted to try and wanted some feelback.

I have an old Founders Club 5 wood that when I hit it, seems like I am getting everything out of the club possible.  The shaft flex seems perfect for my slower tempo swing speed.    It used to be my bread and butter club when I having a bad round to get me back on track.    With the event of hybrids though I have taken it out of the bag so it's in the basement collecting dust.

I am in the market for a new driver and was thinking about buying a used 460cc driver and putting the head onto this 5w shaft.

I know it will be shorter than a normal driver would be.  But I wonder if the shaft will still work for me like it does with the smaller 5w head.  Has anyone ever tried this?  I dont hit the ball a long way off the tee anyway even with a normal length driver, so the shorter length of the club does not concern me.  More concerned with the balance of the club and just hitting it straight.

My current driver I just bought off Ebay.  I got a great deal and it was exactly as advertised.  The one fact that they did not mention was that the shaft had been cut down from 45" to 42.5".  At first I didn't notice it but I did know something was unusual about the driver.  The club also came with a midsize grip and it was when I had it re-gripped that the guy who did it measured the shaft.  I played one round with it at 42.5".  I could hit it just fine that short and even blasted some pretty long shots with it, but I didn't like it being that short.  If I feel I need to choke down on the driver I will easily choke down 2 or 3" but at 42.5" you simply could not choke down at all without feeling like you were swinging a wedge.  And while that might seem acceptable to some it just felt way off to me.  So I took the club back to the guy and he put an extender in the shaft and now it's back to 45", and I have to say I like the club much better this way.  I'll definitely be keeping it in my bag for the foreseeable future.

The shaft flex will be more stiff with the driver. A 5 wood head weighs more that a driver head.
