What country do you live in? There's a lot of high end lefty gear available on ebay, especially from Quebec. Just sayin'.

I can send you an ebay link if you want. Even with international shipping costs, you can't lose. A lot of Canadians, and especially Quebecers, are lefty golfers having played a lot of hockey left handed. I see super deals there all the time, then notice the clubs are left handed.

Either one of the mentioned sets would get you started, provided they fit your body build.

Being you are new to the game, you want to check out the clubs before you buy them. If possible, combine a couple of lessons with finding the clubs you want. Some of my friends who have taken up the game got help from their teaching pro in finding clubs.

As a beginner, you want to get a basic static fitting for the clubs. This type of fitting makes sure the club shafts have the proper length, and the clubheads the proper lie, for your height and arm length. Most people can get by with standard clubs, but if not a clubfitter can tweak a basic set to fit you.

Boxed sets are a possibility. If you want, check out this guest column I wrote a while back:

As a beginner the first set would be fine.

You will have a lot to learn, experience, and feel before you will be ready to make any decisions about golf equipment that will stay a long time in your bag.

I would get the set - get a few lessons - hit the range often and enjoy the game. Just don't swing "hard" - be smooth!

You can play it for your whole life.
