Right now my loft gaps and clubs are arrainged as a 10.5 driver 15 3wood 18 2hybrid and a 21 4iron and a 24 5iron. just wondering if anyone has skipped the common 18 degree club whether its a 5wood or hybrid and jumped from the 3wood to a 21 or 22 degree club. I am looking delete a long club from my bag to add a wdge but do not want to leave any giant gaps in lofts i am thinking of getting an 18 or 19 hybrid and a 23 hybrid and removing my 4 and 5 irons

thanks

I try to cover the loft gaps, but make decisions based on distance and shot gaps.

If you can hit your 3 iron good then replace the wood/hybrid with another wedge. you will have more options when your closer to the green. i just made this switch from my 5 wood to another wedge since i can hit my 3 iron well and it has helped lower scores.

I can't say my scores went lower, but I felt more prepared to attack a course when I went from 4 wedges to 3 wedges with wider loft gaps, added a 3-wood, and dropped my 2-iron in favour of a 19* hybrid. Different strokes for different folks.

You can definitely do that if you're willing to carry a 4ish-wood. Mine goes 11* driver, 16* fairway, 21* hybrid, 24* 4-iron. Most people will hit a hybrid further than the equivalent iron, so you probably want the loft gap to tighten a bit where you transition into those.

Stretch.

    • The first issue Erik spoke about is something we worked on for my swing during both GEARS sessions. GEARS was showing my pelvis center moving towards the ball during the back swing. I wasn’t the 4” guy though! This forced me to correct on the downswing to give myself space. My hip rotation was to high as well. We corrected it by first getting the weight off my heels in my stance and getting my posture correct. Then the feel was shifting back into my right hip at a 45 degree angle. This kept my pelvis center from moving towards the ball at the start of the backswing. I also didn’t sway back as much as I felt I did because of the angle I was shifting. Feel Ain’t Real. The cool thing about GEARS is as you work on something you can see the exact (Real) change happening. On video, it is much harder to spot this issue because of the 2D nature of filming. But I know what to look for now. Sadly, I was hurt all last year and most of this year so I really haven’t been able to work on it much. I did do a lot of backswing work though.
