I am currently using a R7 425cc  Stiff flex 65 gram  Shaft reads "re ax co- engineered by fujikura"  It also says " mid tip"

I am looking to upgrade to the R9460cc driver. I was researching this club an noticed that there are a few shafts they put on there.

They are:
Aldila RE*AX 60 gram tip-soft shaft   Stiff
GRAFALLOY EPIC-68 S-5      Stiff
MOTORE F1 65g
graphite shaft by Fujikura - STIFF

and a couple more. Can anyone tell me which one of these is like my old drivers shaft?  or how to rank these shafts.

need more info on the shaft you are using. all the verbiage that's printed on it.   besides that the new head will react differently than the one you're currently using, even if you were to put that same shaft on it. those three new shafts each have different flex properties about them (from the butt, mid section, and tip frequencies).  regardless of the fact that they are "stiff".

why are you switching?  is the old driver so beat up that it's losing distance or are you just wanting to try something different?

This is the only verbiage on the shaft: Stiff flex 65 gram  Shaft reads "re ax co- engineered by fujikura"  It also says " mid tip"

It is beat up a bit. I bought it three years ago from a guy how used it quit a bit. Not really sure if I'm loosing much distance from it but figured a new club would give me some more distance. And i like the fact the R7 has the capability to change your ball flight.

yeah...here's the thing about "changing the ball flight"- most people who bought those clubs don't change the setting once they found what worked.  many of them didn't notice much difference in the various settings.  as a club fitter one of those clubs would be great as a fitting tool but i'd never try to sell one to somebody.  once you've been fitted for the proper setup why change it?  the distance difference in most of those clubs from a proper fitting is negligible.  the hype you see about them comes from the companies that that make them and people who didn't have clubs that were properly fit to begin with.  you won't see massive distance gains like 10 to 15 yards unless the club you already have wasn't right to begin with.

but...we all enjoy the "search for the perfect driver", don't we?

as for that shaft- the only way we can match it is to remove it and do a "flex profile" of it.  anyone who says they know different is either a machine or...has an opinion.
