I read all the mags, I watch the golf channel all the time. I KNOW trying to do all the things they say sometimes can mess with your game.
I am going through a swing change right now to stop from coming so over the top and swinging more down the line. BUT my putting has really gotten away from me. I used to stand over a 5 footer and think NO PROBLEM back of the cup. I changed putters recently from the Scotty red X mallet because i couldnt get my speeds right to the new oddessy XG 9 (phil model) i know its a differant type of stroke with that type of putter with the toe being so much heavier BUT my speed is good but I never drop putts like i used to...I love the putter i love the look, the feel. Ive noticed on quite a few guys on this site have that "Phil" model putter on there SIG and im wondering what thinks help you guys out that you could pass on to me. Ive been playing some of the best courses around my area lately and the greens are much faster and VERY undulated. I know there is no REAL question in this post expect...help me please ...id be in the high 70's if i could just get this &%$#@! thing to work with me. I keep my head down, I have a good grip pressure i just cant figure the lines out.

WOW THAT WAS LONG.

Thank you so much ladies ? and GENTS

The swing changes have nothing to do with putting. If the distance is right putting then your not reading the putt correcly or hitting the line. My guess is your missing the line and you need to adjust your body a bit to hit it down the line with your new putter.

Lay a long iron on line to the hole and square up your new putter to the shaft and line. You may see that your perception of square to the hole was off a little with the new style putter.

Thanks guys. Really like how this site helps.
I will try both methods and see how it goes.

Where are you missing it? On the high side or below the hole? One good tip is never looka t the hole until you here the ball drop in.

every so often I have the same problems as you, and when I do, I go to my office, turn on the TV and watch a video that Ben Crenshaw put together years ago, it is number three on the "Golf Learning" top videos to buy
http://www.golflearning.com/html/videos.html

The Art of Putting by Ben Crenshaw

When you watch it, make sure you have your putter with you and 3 or 4 balls, and a Putting mat ( and putting cup, or putting machine ) , spend hours and hours doing what Ben says, do this in the morning if you can, then after lunch go to any Putting Green ( not your own course ) , and putt for 30 minutes, no longer. Do it again the next day, and the next day ( if you can), you can watch the video again and again if you want to ( but it is not necessary if you get what Ben is trying to tell you ) , then post a reply back here and let us all know how you got on.

I am far from the best putter around but everytime my putting really gets away from me I go back to the line on the ball. When I'm putting badly and I line up the line on the ball with the line I want to hit it on, I get over the ball and cant believe how far off it feels. Then I just trust the line and stroke it. After a while it starts to look natural again and standing over the ball the line looks right.
