I have pulled an intercostal muscle (a muscle lying between the ribs). Anybody got any tips on streches or rehabilitation exercises? Can take 4-6 weeks to settle down and I'd like to accelerate that process through physiotherapy.

Had a very similar problem last winter. Doc put me on anti-inflammitories and then 800mg of Ibuprofen 3x daily. He told me mine was chronic and I would have to stretch and keep it warm especially during the winter. I was out for a couple of weeks, but was able to play as long as I stretched out those muscle groups before I started. I would also keep it stretched out during the round.

I found I could use a tree or my driver or the cart as an aid. I would reach up as high as I could and hang on while stretching downward. I would do this almost between every shot. And I dropped back a couple of clubs on every shot. Since this gave me a lower trajectory, I had to change my course management to accommodate a game around instead of over some obstacles. On the bright side, it is winter again and I have no experienced a recurrence of the problem. I have learned to watch it and stretch that area if I feel a twinge. Good Luck with it.

I had a rotator cuff reconstruction surgery 2 years ago.
What it really helped me was physical therapy. Once the scar and the inflamation is healed, you want to do a lot of reinforcement exercise (usually using rubber bands). I have almost got back to my original condition (maybe better than the original!)
