Anyone played both of these? I have a 19* Super hybrid and I'm thinking about getting a V3 hybrid in a 22*. Do they play pretty similar?

I can't tel you about the Super Hybrid comparison, but I just put a set of V3s in my bag to start this year and have a few rounds in with them.  The ball JUMPS off the face of the V3s.  Very forgiving too.  Best hybrid I've ever hit.  I'm getting rid of two Ping G5s because of how good the V3s are.

V3s are really good.  I think they are easier to hit than the super.  But.....there is a little bit of a trade off.  To my eye, the v3 looks like it sets up a little open at address.  Also, if you are going to go with a stock shaft, the v3 is very light for a hybrid shaft.

Is there really any difference in the head besides the weight port and a slightly open face? I'm torn between the V3 and the Cleveland Mashie.

Yes there is a difference.  I think a good comparison would be to think of the super as a mini fairway and the v3 as more of a hybrid.  Now I don't know if the head on the v3 is actually open.....I think it is neutral.  But to me looking down on it, it kind of has an open appearance. I have not hit the Mashie.  I have heard a lot of good things about it though.  And, it seems to have developed a almost cult like following.

Haha, I ended up buying the mashie from ebay instead of the V3. I paid about half of what a V3 would run. Will report soon.

I have been wanting to get a V3 hybrid also. I can say that if the hybrids are anything like the V3 irons, the ball will indeed fly off the face. I demo'ed the 7 iron and it felt sooo freakin nice.

I have two MASHIEs an 18 and 23 and they are easy to hit and easy to hit long and stright. Would definitly recommend them.

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
