So, I'm thinking of painting my R7 Superquad white like the R11.  Can anyone recommend paints and a process of how to do this so the result will look somewhat professional?

My reasoning behind this idea is I really like the alignment aid the white top line will have in contrast to the black face.  Although I like the R11, I feel my driver is a bit more forgiving because the face are is a bit larger.  The white TM Burner has the face area I like but I can't get over the shape of the head.  If you could get the face area of the Burner with the head shape of the R11, that would be a  perfect driver for me...essentially I'm trying to create it with this idea.

Any advice is much appreciated.

I painted a used TM r7 425 w/ a WSU Cougar theme. (see post here)

I sanded it down and then used automotive primer and automotive spray paint (cans) in gray and crimson.  For really crisp lines, instead of regular painter's tape, I used some flexible modeling tape I got from the hobby store.  It's made to go around curves, etc.  I also picked up some 'make your own decals' paper at the hobby store and printed my own graphics on my laserjet printer.

I was very happy with the overall look and got alot of compliments from my fellow Cougar grad friends.

One thing to note, however.  After I played and hit range balls with it for about 3 months, the paint job developed a very fine crack on top of the club, just above the middle of the clubface.  I'm not sure if it was a primer issue or perhaps there is something you can add to the paint to make it more 'flexible' after it has dried?  There's also a company called 'colorware' that will color / paint just about anything (iPads, PCs, XBoxes, etc).  They did a 'Pokemon' Taylormade driver.

Thanks for the help.  I think that is definitely enough to get me started...I just hope I don't  make a mess out of my R7

    • I set out to pick 5 but then the brakes failed. Like completely. • Day 2 - More grip and setup. Tried a few swing thoughts since the grip and setup stuff is complete once I start the backswing.
    • Two made the cut. My point isn’t to change any opinions, it’s for accuracy. If anything it further supports your opinion because PGAT players did better than your percentages.
    • OK, then instead of "PGAT Players" we can just say "Non-LIV Players".  I'm not sure that changes my opinion much. unless all 21 PGA Pros missed the cut which would dramatically impact the percentage of PGAT Players making the cut throwing more advantage to the "Non-LIV" group.
    • Day 67. Played my first 18 of the year. Not a great score but hit some really good shots for me. Highlights include a chip in for birdie, couple good drives, but even better for me a couple 6 iron approach shots landing on the green. Perhaps some of the practice is paying off 🙂
