My tv coverage of the Masters is going to be coming from Fox Sports. I think I'll have to watch up to 2 hours later on timed delay so that I can fast forward through the adverts. I know someone has to pay for the coverage but Fox Sports take it to a different level. I'm going to measure it tonight because I think it's five minutes of golf (mainly someone putting) then five minutes of the SAME adverts! Does anyone else have to suffer this?

I'm curious where you are.  First, doesn't CBS have the contract -- odd that Fox would get it in some markets.  I'm also surprised because I think Augusta requires something like a maximum of 4 minutes of commercials per hour.

I'm in the UAE and almost all US golf comes to us through Fox. Just been watching the Shell Houston Open and it's the same thing. Actually it's 5 min play and 2 min of Fox Sports Promo. It does my head in. Before that I was watching the Hassan II European Tour final day. Four hours continous with no breaks. In depth discussion about players tactics, decisions etc as they walk between shots. A real contrast.

Ah.  Yes, I was only thinking of domestic (U.S.) television.  Ugh, that ratio sounds terrible;  my condolences.  Were previous Masters run with so many commercials?

By the way, your comment about the Hassan II event reminds me of why I used to enjoy watching football (NFL) on Sky Sports.  Instead of commercials, a British guy explains downs or the formations or clock management.

Previous Masters used to be on the Showtime Arabia Package which has virtually no adverts. Or alternatively a South African broadcaster called DSTV Multichoice. I'll just delay watching and ffwd through the promos.
