Hey guys, I am having trouble really knowing how to coil in the backswing.  I don't know if its my spine tilt or setup but my shoulder turn always feels restricted and the plane looks waaayyy too flat, and the only way I can get into position is to lift my arms.  This leads to my downswing being all arms and no power.  I just can't get the feeling of proper coil, everything just feels weak and Im only 25 years old and cannot see why my shoulder turn feels so restricted and flat.  Does this have to deal with setup?  Because I bend from the hips, I dont contract the abs (do I have to do this??)  and I feel like I'm in proper form.  Just can't figure it out, please help

i know what you mean and for me it tends to be from having too much weight towards the front of my feet, if someone gave me a light shove from behind i would have fallen forward. The fix for me was just having my weight more towards the middle of my feet, but still an athletic position. The new weight distribution also resulted in a less hunched over position and a more upright spine angle.

Thanks for the reply Lebowski!  So do you keep your toes up in the setup or what?  Because when I turn I feel the weight move towards my toes and thats where I think I go really flat in the backswing

Attach your arms to your body and swing the body...practice with a tee under each arm.

at first it will feel like you are swinging in a straight jacket but stick with it.

arms and hands cannot be trusted.  The legs and torso however can be trusted for good ball striking

    • Definitely didn't get a bag over the winter. I think I finally found one now, though. Going to get the Mizuno BR-D4 6-Way stand bag. Just trying to decide what color to get. I kind of don't like the way half the left side is black thus making the bag two-toned in every color other than black, but I also don't want an all black golf bag. Otherwise it seems to check all the boxes I have, the primary ones being the 6-way full length dividers with a putter well and having plenty of pockets (but not too many, I'm a packrat). I definitely need a narrower bag than my C130S.
    • Hey man thank you, I appreciate the response. I took your advice and posted my swing a bit in the Member Swing Forum and I've been going through some of iacas's posts, there's definitely a lot of things to learn. Looking forward to participating in the discussions around here. Cheers!
    • Got some really good footage, (sync'd up front view + down the line view), I think my DTL camera angle is a titch off but I think it works. One thing I noticed is I really lack shaft lean at address and I absolutely HATE how my lead arm breaks down completely in my down swing, not sure how to fix that. Here's the vids.       Posted a lot of swings but wanted to give a good idea of what my swing looks like. I tried to create my miss on the course in the last video and it's close, but usually the ball starts way left. I notice my big push slice with my driver usually happens end of round, so maybe I just get tired and can't time my swing properly. I added the rehersal and less than 100% power swings because that's usually how I practice right now, I do a lot of slow swings, then I watch on video to see what it looks like, and then I just keep doing that. Btw if I posted too many swings, let me know and I'll post less next time. Cheers.
    • Day 73. Played 9. My little one joined and had a great time, which made my day.
