I am going to buy a new set of irons as i have the money from christmas.

I went into american golf the day and was looking at the irons. I am going to go in there one day and use the launch monitor and get properly fit.

I was looking at the Titleist 775, titleist 735, TM r7 and TM LT2.

I was wondering has anyone had any good/bad experiences of these clubs? What would you recommend to be the best of a medium ball striker who is looking to improve? Also how do the clubs wear as my last set of clubs have scratches and dig all over them?

I bought the TM LT2 3-SW last year. No problems at all. I play at least once per week and they still look new. Of course, I clean each club as I use 'em.

I play Titleist 735.CM and they are great! If you play consistently often, it's a great set for you... if you play sporadically, then you might need something more forgiving like the new 755 (which are very long!) or the 704 CB (which in my opinion is almost the identical twin of the new 755 at a cheaper price! I know this because my wife got a set of 704 irons this winter!)
I don't think the 775CB is the right club for you... check these link out (I myself had the same question few weeks ago!)

THe only thing that is putting me off the 735's are the price!

In the UK i have seen the average price at £599

Nooooo i dont want to pay that much although i would if it helped my game!!!!

Definately try the LT2's. I switched at the end of the season and am totaly in love with them. I am really impreesed with the feel, ball flight, and variety of shots they allow me to play. Pluss you cant beat the price!!!!!!!!

Well, on Ebay you can find them for cheaper... I saw them also for $300...

sometimes less but you gotta be lucky. 735.CM irons are nice because they provide feel (blade on 8-PW) and forgiveness (cavity back on 3-7)... I am sure they can offer you a great help in going single digit handicap (but you need to practise, otherwise go for the other models 755 or 704)

i registered just to reply to this post :P

I have the RAC LT2 irons and i think they are excellent. they are forgiving like a cavity back but not so forgiving that you dont know you hit a bad shot. however, when you do strike them on the sweet spot, they are long and easy to control. they set up like a blade with a thin top line and invisible sole, and very very slight offset. try them. i think you will like them. :)

I played with the 735's before I went with the LT2's. No doubt they are a good club, but for me they had a harder feel to them than the LT2's and I have always liked a softer feeling club so I went with the LT2's and have been totaly happy with them.

I dont think you could go wrong either way.

Bring on the English iron problems! I'm looking at the 735's and the RAC tp's but they dont have them in american golf...do you know any place where you can try them? Would love some feedback on the two irons! By the way mizuno are also sweet, tried the mp-60's and the mp-67's , the 67's I found felt and peformed better than the 60's, but maybe a little too pro for me, may have to consider the 32's if i can find some. Lt 2's felt ok and perfomed alright but didn't compare to the mizuno's. Hope this help's.

In th UK we get a really rough deal on clubs. Not only are they so much more expensive we have so little choice.

I have been to America and the golf shops are amazing. I walked in and straight away there someone welcoming you and asking if you want to try any clubs. The launch monitors are working and able to give reliable readings. While in the UK in go into american golf and rarely is the launch monitor working and they dont ever have enough staff to give advice and allow you to buy clubs.

Also i want to try the titleist 735, 775, TM R7 TP, TM LT2's and something in the mizuno line yet american golf only has the 735 and the LT2's. This means that i have got to go to another shop to try them out. Although i am going to go try out the clubs and order of the internet. Save on average £100.

Someone needs to get golf shops in the UK in shape, perhaps one day if i got enough money i will open a chain.

    • LIV golf was pretty close to me in 2023, at the same course that hosted the 2023 Senior PGA.  I didn't go to either one.  I do know a few people who went to the LIV event, and they said it was pretty well attended and pretty well run.  If I had free tickets, I might show up, but I'd probably have to drive 10 miles to park to get a shuttle to come back to within 5 miles of my house.
    • As long as "in town" means a drive of less than an hour, I'd probably go.  I've never actually been to a pro golf event, so it would be a novelty. Presumably, they'd be playing on a course that I'm not normally allowed to visit, so there would be an interest in just going to see the place. My tolerance for traffic is pretty minimal, so if massive headaches are predicted it would dampen my enthusiasm.
    • I would definitely buy tickets and go watch a round or two.
