Up until this past saturday i haven't touched a club in over a year, in that time I've probably gained close to 30 pounds of muscle. I've always swung my clubs fast but the last time i got fitted for my driver was about a year and a half ago, and my other clubs haven't been fitted in over 2 1/2 years. After playing today a friend and me went to golfsmith and I was interested to see what my swing speed was. I jumped on the launch monitor and hit around twenty balls at my normal swing speed and my club head speed ranged from 115 to 125. How accurate are these monitors? I mean i feel like this is really fast, the tour average is around 115 i just dont see myself swinging as fast as phil and tiger

I don't know what launch monitor you got, so I can't really tell. I know that there are big differences in how accurate they are. Some give me a 110 swing speed, some 120. Trackman, which I trust as one of the most accurate, give me around 105.

Launch monitors at golf stores are not always too accurate, some are even juiced up a bit to make customers think they hit it great with the club they are looking at.

I would seek out another monitor before concluding you got a 120mph swing speed.
