so i busted my driver a month ago. it was getting old and its time had come. i cant return it because i bought it used from ebay. So... its time for a new driver. ive looked at a couple drivers while having to stay below $200, but preferable $150. so far, ive cut it down to the Callaway Diablo Edge and the Taylormade Burner Superfast (not the 2.0)... i hit both on the machine and i hit the both almost the exact same. club velocity and spin were both about the same but ball velocity seemed just a tad higher on the superfast. i love the feel on both drivers so i cant base it off that. im not sure whether i like the extra inch on thr superfast or not. i really like both clubs and cant decide which one i want yet. im not asking you to decide for me. i would just like some opinions on both clubs and maybe a recommendation. by the way, im a high handicap golfer, 6 foot tall and fight a slice.

Well I've been recommending this driver left and right because I almost cant believe it can be had for the price it sells at but...

I love the Nickent 4DX Driver, to me it swings, feels and performs as well as just about anything I've swung. I swung a few of the bigger companies models and ended up getting the driver almost solely on Price and reviews but man once I got it I was happy. 50-70 bucks for a driver that feels and performs so well I'm now thinking of buying a second one becuase they appear to be disappearing fast, as Nickent went under, and I want to be able to find another when I wear this one out.

Its not the longest driver in the World and its not the most forgiving either, Its in the middle. Its forgiving enough that slight mishits will keep you playable and long enough that when you hit one good you really get out there.

As for those two you chose already, they are both going to be fine choices and for guys like us with 20+ handicaps It all about staying strait and playable so Id pick whichever one you feel gives you the best chance at landing in the fairway. a 320 yard drive strait into the trees is far worse then a 250 yard drive right down the fairway.

If you are getting the exact same results with both as you say, then I think it would come down to esthetics.  Which ever one makes you feel better while standing over it can also help in the confidence department.  The '07 to '09 Burners are pretty cheap now as well, if you happen to come across any.  Which ever you decide on, make sure you are sporting a proper shaft for your swing.

Of the two I can recommend the Diablo Edge.  I played one and liked it.  I fight a slice too, but could manage it with the Edge.

But as a slicer (or former slicer LOL) I would also recommend looking at a Cleveland HiBore if you can find one.  My slice has pretty much transformed itself into a very nice fade now.  Whether or not it was that driver, a (subconscious) swing change, or the ball change I can't say for sure, but I am driving the ball straighter and longer since switching to this club.

i had a cleveland hibore and i hated it. it probably is a great driver, but its just not for me.

being right at 6 foot tall, would the longer shaft on the burner be better or worse for me? i think im going to go to the local Edwin Watts Golf Shop and get fitted there instead of going to Dick's and the guys not paying me much attention.
