I'm not a super long hitter, but I've always had tremendous hang time because, in the past anyway, I just put too much spin on the ball for the driver.  My average out of 10 driver swings or so was 8.1 seconds, high was 8.6 seconds on the launch monitor.  In comparison, J.B. Holmes average is 7.4.  He hits it a bit farther than I do .  I watched some protracer video of the long drive guys and it's like the ball just drops out of the air like a rock after around  7 seconds or so, then it's 400 yards out.  Mine seems to take a short vacation up in the clouds, toddly-dooing around for a while.  I always wondered why people check out my shots at the range because the distance isn't all that impressive.  It's funny watching the thing because when you hit it straight, it just looks like a little ball of cotton floating around with it's butterfly buddies.  I guess that's what they mean by powder-puffing the ball....

Do you know your hang time?

I'm going to check this out soon, because I have been experiencing some unusually long hang times over my last four rounds.  And, these are the "bringing the rain" moonshot types, and not the lazer or frozen rope types.  I have been averaging about 230 yard drives this season(GPS measured), but either my 10.5-degree driver loft needs to switched our for a 9.5, or else I have been teeing too high (feel like it's the driver loft as I have been tweaking the tee heights a bit).

    • I appreciate that you have taken the time to come back and update. Based on what was previously discussed I feel like the points were; forged, feel good, price, and possibly players distance. If you like the "looks" of those Maxfli irons and if price is a major point, then going straight to the source, Maltby, might make sense. Specifically, the TS3 iron. I was looking into this myself and found some reviews: Fit2YouGolf, Lets Play Thru, and ELITE FIT GOLF. As per your update I found the Maxfli to be ~$1300 fitted the way I wanted. Where the TS3 with the same fitting and assembled by Golfworks was less than $750. I suppose the downside is to actually hit the iron you will need to get lucky and find someone in your golf circle who will let you hit theirs or order a 6 or 7 iron to test. However, the way I look at that is being equivalent to some fittings. If you like the results and buy, then the fitting is free, otherwise the price of the fitting is a sunk cost. If name brand is important, then I submit for your consideration - THE BEST OVERALL IRON of 2024...... FACT !! 😉 A bit tongue in cheek that but also, I feel some good points were discussed.
    • Day 150 1-10 focus on arching the wrist and getting the ball to go left. Recorded, hit foam balls.
