How often do you guys change your grips?  Do you wait for the ones you currently have on to start to wear or do you have a time frame that you change them in?

I generally change my grips once a season.  Halfway through though, if you feel as if that 'stickiness' of the grip has gone, try physically cleaning the grips.  I did this with my Golf Pride NDMC's on my wedges and they feel brand new.  Hope this helps!

Nothing beats some hot water a plastic bristled brush and dawn dish soap to have a grip feeling like new. This wasnt asked, but I would recommend cleaning the grips after every round IF that is feasible for you. Playing with dirty grips and clubs IMO can add strokes to your game. A grip that slips around in your hands isnt much of a grip at all!

If you take excellent care of your grips they can really last. Rubber grips can be cleaned with an abrasive brush or rag to make the surface feel tacky again but only for so long.

There is no real rule, some people like the feel of new grips and may regrip more then once a season. Some people are ok with slightly worn grips and may go quite a while.

In general though grips should last at least 1 season.

I agree, cleaning grips will make them last much longer.  I quit using soap a long time ago.  I wouldn't recommend using any soap whatsover, especially "concentrated" soap. You'll never be able to get the residual soap residue out of the grips, which will tend to "rot" the grips over time.  I've found the plastic scrub brush and very hot water works just as well without having any soapy residue left behind.  Hot water and a good scrubbing will remove all the dirt and oils in the grips.  Using soap simply adds another contaminate to the grip in my opinion.

Thanks for the tips guys!  I know that I will have to replace some of the grips cause they have already begun to crack, but I will probably be able to save the others.

Is there any good ones that are not really expensive?  I saw some at Academy Sports & Outdoors for like $25 that were pretty tacky.  I know that you get what you pay for in most cases.

Basic rubber grips shouldn't really run more then 5-8 bucks.

Totally agree, cleaning your grips will help extend the life of them.  And I will change my grips after 50 to 60 rounds of golf, which for me is about 3 seasons.  I play the Golf Pride New Decade, and with a little care I can get them to last a long time.  I clean my grips every 2 or 3 rounds, I don't leave my clubs in my trunk all summer or in the garage in the winter and that also seems to help extend the life.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
