should I play PX shafts throughout the bag?

I know something similar has probably been asked before, but anyway. I play flighted px 6.0 shafts in my irons (fitted for these) which I really like. Should I fit px shafts to my other clubs?

This was my plan:

PX graphite wood shaft 5.5 on my driver and 3 wood. Currently fit-on m gold stiff, ball launces high.

PX graphite hybrid shaft 5.5 on my 3i and 4i hybrid. Currently vs proto 80g stiff. Love them, but looking for them to feel closer to my irons than woods.

PX steel 6.5/7.0 8i shaft soft stepped on my vokeys. Currently titleist wedge flex (s300?). Trying to match the more pentrating ball flight of my short irons and having them a little softer than my irons maybe.

Thoughts, suggestions would be appreciated.

You might consider spinner shafts on your wedges...

• Rifle Spinner Wedge: low/mid bend point, medium tip | suggested for players who hit mostly partial wedges and want softer feel
• DG Spinner Wedge: contains bending profile below shaft; mid bend, medium tip | reportedly delivers lower launch angle and more spin (two versions)

The local Mizuno rep I work with said he got the new spinner shafts on his wedges and loves them.  I like the PX on my wedges, but I haven't tried anything else to know which is better.

Thanks both for the advice. I'll have a look at the spinners. Are these just stiffer shafts soft stepped 3 times to give the lower trajectory and moe spin?

It's not a horrible idea, but you should try and hit them first before you just jump into it.  There is no guarantee that the PX shaft will work for you in the woods and wedges just because they work in the irons.   The hybrid shaft will be much different than the iron shafts.  Different heads, different weighting, different lengths, tons of variables, and nothing that would imply that you would get the same results.

Thanks for your input. I was planning to try out the shafts. My thoughts were being from the same manufacturer they should have roughly the same characteristics which is what they state. I agree with you that the feel I get in the irons may just be wrong for the other clubs that's the reason I asked the question. I am totally open to other suggestions to get the results I want.

Yes, I have them on my irons (not flighted) and they are the same flex throughout.  On partial swings they feel fine, but I've been playing with them for a year now so I'm used to it.

One of the reasons I went to PX on my wedges was because when I put together my starter set 2 years ago, I bought random used wedges online and they all had different shafts.  Different model of graphite with different flexes, and on full shots it was a hassle because I felt like I couldn't feel the club in my hands.  I actually like the weight of the shaft and to be able to feel it.

I use my 52* gap wedge for almost all partial shots, it's PX6.0 and I still have pretty good feel.  I hear the spinner shafts can help with a lower trajectory, so you may want to at least demo them first.  Again, the Mizuno guy I deal with (I play Mizuno irons) highly recommends them to me.

I use my 52* the same as you. It's my go to wedge pretty much so good to hear that the feel is fine. Does the Mizuno guy play Rifle or DG spinners? Have heard the dg spinners are hard to hit full shots with and I do this with my 52*. Not and issue with my 56*and 60*.

Another thought is if I go down the soft stepping route would I do this with a 7i or 8i shaft? Maybe 8i on my 52* and 7i on the 56* and 60*? Was initially thinking 8i on all 3 wedges.

I demoed the PX graphite on a 3wood as I've been looking to purchase a new one.  I loved it.  However, to get it on the Mizuno wood I wanted, I'd have to pay like a $175 premium.  You should demo it though.  Go test out any of the new Nike woods from this year.  The PX graphite is Nike's stock shaft now.  It feels great.  I still want to get one later this year.

Thanks for the input Brandon. Playing this weekend and my club has just got new stock in. Hopefully they got some Nike stuff that I can demo. What kind of flight did it give as my current is quite high? Eugene

I felt like the launch with the Nike 3w (PX6.0 Graphite) was lower than the setup I have now (some regular flex shaft) and even slightly lower than the stock shaft on the Mizuno JPX800 3w that I really liked.

Thought I'd do an update as I made some changes.

Wedges

Put px flighted 6.0 in my 52* as I play full shots on this a lot and wanted some consistancy compared with my pitching wedge. Actually feels better on 1/2 shots compared to original wedge flex.

Soft steepped px 6.0 8i shaft in my 56* and 60* and these feel amazing from 50m in. Great touch with them and for the first time they complement my irons. Don't feel like I have to swing differnetly with them like I used to.

Hybrids

Fitted the px 5.5 graphite shaft and wow!! I am now attacking the ball coming down on it. Really feel like I can load the club. Before I used to sweep more.

Driver and fairway I haven't done yet, but on these results I can't wait.

You know you want to really. The px graphite shaft is awesome. Hope I get the same feeling on my 3 wood as my hybrids. I played a demo VR driver with the 5.5 shaft and it felt good. So just got to save some cash. Will do a post when all done. So far money well spent.
