I have golfed on and off since I was about 10 or 12 when I could find time between baseball.  Now that I have been out of college a few years I am taking up golf again more seriously this time.  I have taken a few videos of my driver and was looking for any advice that you guys can throw at me.  I can see a few things that I think I am doing wrong, but I am still too new to golf to be able to know what to do about it.  Here are the things that I believe I am doing wrong:

1) My grip is off.  I look like I am "cupping" my left hand (if that makes any sense)

2) My backswing looks too steep

3) I think I am opening up my hips too soon (I am thinking this after reading the "slide your hips" thread)

If you guys could let me know if I am on the right track with my observations and then any other advice anyone is willing to give would be great.

Lots of good things going on with your swing. The issue with your swing that will lead to inconsistency is that the backswing is very armsy. With the upper body, the backswing should be shoulders. The arms should feel passive. Turn your front (right) shoulder down and in toward your rear foot. Your arms should feel that they stay straight and feel that they are moving in behind you. Then cock your right wrist and bend the knuckles of your left wrist toward your left forearm. Keep turning your shoulders down and in. Keep the connection of your left arm to your side while feeling that your arms are straight and moving more in behind you. In this manner, you will turn on the backswing with the arms flatter than they are now. At the top of the backswing, your hands will be lateral to your shoulder, instead of straight above it. see video below

Great.  Thanks a lot for the feedback.  After watching them back I can definitely see what you mean by armsy, my shoulders barely rotate at all.  I will work on this the next few times out and hoperfully get up some better quality video next time.
