Putter length

When I bought my first, and current, putter I decided to go with 35".. why? No clue. I didn't know how to putt outside of a mini-golf course. I'm 5'7 and I find myself choking down to avoid stubbing the ground sometimes.. okay, most times.

So what do I lose by having to choke down on my putter, effectively making it a shorter putter? I putt decently I think.. but could I be more consistent if I didn't have to adjust for the length of the club?

Of course I'm leaning towards the answer being: Yes, you could do better with a putter fit to your size and swing. But what I'd like to hear is other people's experiences with various putter lengths and what conclusions they came to when deciding on the "right" length.

Its all about comfort, there is no "absolute".  For example, Anthony Kim chokes down three inches on almost every club in his bag.  He says he tried shorter clubs, but found more comfort in choking down.  So, have you tried a shorter putter on the course?  Or can you compare what you have to something shorter?  My gut is 33 might be closer to your range, but its all about your personal style.    The standard length putter I offer is 33.75, historically its the most commonly chosen length from the widest range of players.
