What a difference some time off can make! For a few weeks I'd been playing terrible, hit all sorts of wayward shots, chunks etc. I got so frustrated (as you do) I decided to de-tox for a bit over a week. For 9 days I didn't touch a club. Went out and practised, and found I was hitting the much better, and swinging differently. Went out yesterday and shot +8 (which is actually my best score) Feeling much better about golf now :)

I shot the best 9 hole score of my life on the first round of the season after not playing for 7 months in the winter. I was 2 under going into 9 and finished the 9 holes at even par and went on to shoot and 80.

Your irons

"Great for sweet-spot hits," this baby "works the ball like a forgiving blade," but "mis-hits are harsh." "Fat shots end up short and thinned ones can run twice the intended distance" on this "attractive," "great feeling," "solid," "distance hitter." It's "better for low to mid handicappers," which explains why so many reviewers lamented that they "are not skilled enough to deserve them."

If +8 in 9 holes is your best round ever those dont sound like the clubs meant for you. Just saying.

Ah, it was +8 in 18 holes.  I was +6 thru 5, got it back to +5 for the front. Shot +3 on the back (bogeying 17 & 18).

I usually hover around my handicap (12) Just been off lately... My irons are usually ok, but I average around the 33 putt mark and miss a lot of fairways.

    • These are the courses that I remember, but there may be others that I’m not remembering at the moment. I broke 100 atOakland Hills one time, but what I shot otherwise will be taken to the grave with me.    Country Club of the North - Several LPGA tournaments NCR Country Club South Course - 51st PGA, 41st US Women’s Open, 05 US Senior Open (attended) TPC Michigan - Ford Senior Players Championship Valhalla - 24, 14, 2000, and 96 PGA Championships, 11, and 04 Senior PGA Championships, 08 Ryder Cup Oakland Hills - 08 PGA Championship, 04 Ryder Cup, 96, 85, 61 and other US Opens TPC Sawgrass - The Players Championship

    • For me it was combo of good drama and total last man standing collapse... But it showed me once again that "ball rollback" is nonsense...when courses are set up to punish missed fairways and greens, that's where the quality golf (or total collapse) takes place...hurting the rest of us because a relatively few can bomb it 100 yards farther is idiotic...that Young bomb on 18 was gutsy... He misses the fairway with that he likely doesn't win, at least on that hole...
    • Followed by the longest drive on 18 in the shotlink era. That is a tough shot and he stood up there and did it. Fair play to him.
