It's like this powder stuff, and it's supposed to be able to show you your swing arch.

has anyone here heard of it, or tried it?

Only thing I've heard of is "swing dust"... but that is for determining where on the clubface the ball made contact.... not sure that helps you with the arch though... Have you tried to google it?

Nope i sure haven't, but i'll give it a try. What your describing could be similar.

The only thing I have heard of is getting an old club and painting the club head a bright color. This shows the effect of a streak due to the speed of the club and what your eyes can actually register.

I tested a product called swingswatch for PGA tour partners. There fluorescent yellow and stick on the top of your club, when you swing you can see the path of your club head. If it's real sunny out it's hard to see but otherwise they work pretty good. they recommend using a dark color driver to help. Can be used on irons also but I found it more difficult to see.

Did it seem to help at all, or is it useless?

It worked pretty good at slower swing speeds but full hard swings it was hard to see. It is a practice tool too see your swing path. At five dollars you get your moneys worth. They are reusable a few times and not allowed for turnament play.
