As seen on this site and others Jim Colton played 155 holes of golf today and raised thousands of dollars for an injured caddie, a remarkable feat and a commendable cause.

Not to detract from the feat and the cause but out of curiosity I googled the world record for most holes of golf played in a day and couldn't find anything. The first link however was most holes in a week. The number was amazing and came out to 1,850 (that is an avg of essentially 265 HOLES A DAY!!!). What is as amazing is the guy who did it was 70 years old and averaged under 75 for each round he played. He didn't use a cart but still the high each day was over 90 degrees in humid Alabama.

Also stunning is this occurred a week ago and I have heard nothing about it and the individual was a CNN sports anchor and is currently a pastor that did this in connection with charity.

More stats from http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/ :

Most holes in a day with a cart: 851 by Robb James (Canada) at Victoria Golf Course

Most holes in 12 hours walking: 221 by Scott Holland (Canada) at Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course

Most holes of golf played in one year: 11,000 by Richard Lewis (USA) all at the Four Seasons Resort and Club in Irving

The most golf I've played in a day is walking 72 holes and people looked at me like I was crazy doing it (my feet were also screaming).  What is the most golf you have played in a given period of time?

    • We had a member of our senior club who developed a mental block on pulling the trigger. I played with him to see what the membership was talking about. I timed him a few times when he would get over the ball. 45 seconds. He knew he had a mental block and would chide himself, “Just hit it!” Once on the green he was okay and chipping was a bit better. It was painful to watch him struggle. Our “bandaid” was to put him in the last tournament  tee time with two understanding players. We should have suggested to him to take a break from our tournaments. I agree with the idea that when a player realizes they have a problem, the answer is to go fix it and not return until they are able to play at an acceptable pace.
