For me,

1. Must be consistent and predictable for greenside shots.

2. Must have somewhat low spin off the driver - (helps minimize side spin)

3. Must be solid and stable, able to hold its line in the WIND

Callaway HX Tour is that ball for me.

One must consider the considerable effect of wind on your ball flight out here.

I prefer a softer ball especially for chipping and pitching around greens, but I've shot 75 with a Titleist Solo which tells me what I've said before. It's never the ball unless you are Woods or Mickelson who have the same consistant ball flight.

As a single digit handicapper I don't have a consistant enough ball flight that I can say that the Pro V1X is better than a Hogan Hawk. That's why I have alot of Hogan Hawks. They're cheap because of the Tour Deep coming out and they do what I like around the greens.

Yeah, what ezmoney said.... I like a soft feeling and sounding ball because with my clubhead speed, I just don't think I get as good a ball flight with a hard ball and I know they do not respond around the greens as well. Give me soft even if it reduces overall distance, I want control.

I can't make the ball spin with washing machine! So i buy MC Lady for $9.99 a doz. I don't stress about losing one at that price. I do play the "good" balls that i find, though. Rich people don't go into the woods to chase thier Pro V1s....

I've played my best rounds with the NXT Tour. It's all superstition for me.

I play prov1x's and I love them. The only bad thing in my case is if i thin a ball it will show. I can get a round out of a ball if its casual...if its a tournament i will switch every 3 or 4 holes.

Changing the ball every 3-4 holes is too expensive for me! I live in the UK, and Pro V1s retail at nearly 35 pounds a dozen; that's nearly 70 dollars for you guys!!

However, I've gone 3 rounds with one ball, with not too much trouble; although I often change my ball every 12-15 holes due to my eratic driving anyway

Feel is the most important thing to me. I guess I'm like Goldilocks - not too hard, not too soft. I like ProV1s, but not so much the PV1x. I like the NXT Tour, but not so much the NXT. I like the Precept B330S and the Srixon Z-URs.

As a marketing guy, I give away golf balls, but don't have a huge budget, so I choose modestly. Last year I got the Pinnacle Exception ball. It's really a nice ball for the money. But when I gave them away, folks would just shrug and say, "Oh a Pinnacle." So this year I got the Titleist DT So/Lo. It gets a better response when I give them away, but when I hit it, I prefer the Pinnacle Exception. The So/Lo is too soft for my taste and balloons up in the air, which I don't need.
