Hi all,

I'm in need of a new set of golf clubs as my Howson HPC 2000 are now quite decrepid and am in need of a change! I've seen a few sets that I like but not sure on how good they are so in need of your advice!

The sets I've seen are as follows:

T3 Trilogy by John Letters.
Wilson PT Prostaff Package Set.
Hippo CP100 Set.
Ram Concept X Package Set.
Ben Sayers M2i Package Set.
Top Flite Pro Response 15 Piece Package Set.
Ram Demon Plus Package Set.

Also I've seen a Wilson set on a website with a really excellent price tag, yet again I'm not sure on how good they are plus at this price not so sure how reliable the site might be! Check it out here:

Any advice would be great!

Hope you're all enjoying The Masters!

The "cheap" Wilson set in the link have alloy woods which arent anywhere near the quality,or have anywhere near the perimeter weighting (or ease of use) of stainless steel.

If the woods with the Ben sayers M2i set are stainless steel i would plump for those personally. The John Letters,Wilson PT and Top-Flite pro-response are not the nicest irons for a relative beginner (the others i dont really know about) but the M2i's are a fantastic quality set of irons with a nice head, generous offset, really low centre of gravity and are very sweet and easy to use.

The Ben sayers are the nicest irons in my opinion and even if the woods are alloy you could still upgrade them at a later date safe in the knowledge the irons are very, very nice.If they are stainless steel its a fantastic package.

Regards Syer.

Cheers Syer! I did wonder about those Wilsons and thought they might be too good to be true!

My prime choices for a new set were the Ben Sayers M2i and the RAM Concept X so thank you for the advice! Much appreciated.

    • Day 27 - 2026-01-16 Played 18 with some of the usual "too many voices" going on when I'm working on swing stuff. Fun to get out in great bay area winter weather.
    • I know one recent college grad who's trying the same thing.  This guy was a Division III All-American, went on to play one year at Division I LSU, and is not working hard.  He won the Gulf States Open, a pro event, and made it to the second stage of the Korn Ferry Tour School late in the fall.  And didn't make the cut to get to the final stage.  I won't talk about swing or play stuff, but I believe there are a couple of things that are essential.  Obviously, talent, and drive, or work ethic.   I can't tell you how to do it, but you HAVE to get through it.  Golf is going to be your life, and it takes lots of work. Two more things that are really critical.  You'll need the facility to be able to practice.  My young friend stayed in Baton Rouge, as a past player on the team he can still use the LSU practice facilities.  And money.  Its unlikely you'll be able to work a full-time job and practice the way you will need to.  You'll probably need backing, from a parent, from a consortium of friends or club members., something to support you. Good luck, its not an easy path, but anything is possible.  Another young man from our area, Mike Brennan, just won for the first time on the "big" PGA Tour.
    • No one in the world is as smart as Phil thinks he is.
    • Get more comfortable with being uncomfortable. If you don’t like practicing then give up now. You don’t have the passion to become a pro. Unless that mentality changes you won’t do well under stressful situations.    Call the PGA Tour and ask. They probably have resources available.
