club fitting

Ok,

I just got my club fitting. It was both intimidating and exciting at the same time. Having a pro scrutinize your stuff and self is overwhelming. Several minutes of chatting and my loosening up and hitting some balls helped.

At the end I walked away feeling better about myself and my limited golf game.

Yesterday I went out and played 9. The first couple of holes were rough. I was all over the place. Not because I was shanking those shots. I was hitting them dead straight...just off line. When I figured it out I changed my alignment and then had to trust the swing. A couple of holes later I began to hit things like I saw on tv...shorter but beautiful shots.

I get to 17 and do an ok tee shot. But the approach, with the 7 iron, was amazing. 135 yards dead on and 6 feet from the hole. The next, a "man" hole, I hit a 220 yard drive straight as an arrow and down the right side of the fairway. The second shot, with my 5 wood, was right on the button and landed in a perfect spot. Then I took the 5 wood again and drove the green landing 12 feet from the whole. All this over two creeks. :)

What a difference that thing made.

Switched drivers.... Taylormade 10.5* R7 to Callaway FT-iZ 11*

Adjusted irons by 2*

Putter was adjusted as well.

Pretty cool thing.

What is the shaft in the Callaway and the flex?

I absolutely love it.

At first I lined up like normal and jacked the ball into the trees dead left, or the bushes... Once my playing partner said that it hadn't hooked over there. Dead straight. I adjusted my setup and alignment and OH MY GOODNESS was it cool.

So I have upgraded my irons. Couldn't hit the 4h, 5h, or the 6h. So I moved to the Adams A7.

They have the 3h, 4h in a much smaller footprint and they have the 5 - PW in the regular iron set.

Since I had already done a fitting on my A3OS irons I wanted these to be adjusted the same. So...I went down and chatted with Dan the repair guru. He put them on the scope or machine and came up with these numbers for the lie...

each club's lie angle must be individually assessed and adjusted as there are inconsistencies in the bending of the shaft and the way you swing each club.  your fitter should have you swing each club either on a lie board or whatever his/her method for testing is and then adjust each club accordingly.  they'll also check the lofts at the same time. NEVER NEVER NEVER have them adjusted to some arbitrary "standard" or "spec" (did i mention NEVER?).  congrats on at least this much of a fitting.

I am scheduled for the fitting next month, after payday, and will get this fixed.

I had the shop bend them to standard (factory settings) so I can practice hitting them and then go in for the fitting. I found that all but the one that was set to factory standards were all over the place, prior to finding out that they were off, and that I hit the one that was at factory standard really well.

I will update all y'all in a couple of weeks.

Just got fitted yesterday. Originally played Ping Eye 2's orange dots, bc they were hand me downs from my dad (same height and weight). I just found out I have bee playing the wrong dot for 15+ years. I should have been playing black dots and my swing ended up adapting to the wrong lie angle. Anyway I'm glad I got fitted for the new clubs by a pro and even got a mini lesson out of the deal. Cant wait to get the new clubs out on the course with the new swing of course.
