As a resident of Fargo, ND....finding a shop that does a good job of fitting for clubs is a challenge. Basically up here, you buy what you see on the display stands...not a great idea if you're looking for a driver specifically for your swing if you ask me. I will be in Reno, NV for a week on spring break visiting family, and I was just wondering if anybody knew of a good golf shop in the area that does fitting. Specifically for a driver. Thanks!!!

These guys have a simulator and pretty much every name brand club you can think of. They have no problem with trying out any club you want to swing. Not sure if that qualifies as a fitting, but to my knowledge it's the best pro shop in Reno.

Thanks for the reply. They look very respectable! I was on the simulator this week at a local shop, and it wasn't what I expected and Im thinking the salesman was telling me what I wanted to hear in order to get me to buy a driver. So...I more or less looking for some knowledgeable people who can help me get into a driver thats right for me and my swing. I will definately check this place out when Im there though. Thanks a lot!

I know what you mean about the sales people. These guys are pretty laid back and will help you if you ask. They've never been pushy with me in the past, but few did seem a bit biased towards certain brands (Cleveland HiBore). At the very least if you go there when it's not that busy you can hit a bunch of clubs and read the simulator results yourself.

Wow...I didn't even know there was a fellow Nevadan here!

Anyway, there is a place down South Virginia Street called Golden Golf. That is the most laid back golf shop in Reno and their prices are WAY better than Reno-Tahoe Golf Headquarters.

I have to admit that RTGH has a wider selection of brands, but I personally like the one-to-one service of Golden Golf.

That said...I've bought most of my clubs from RTGH anyway LOL

Yeah, I've been lurking for a week or so and just registered yesterday. Love the forum so far, I'm sure I'll be wasting plenty of company time now around here.

I've never been to Golden Golf, but will check it out soon, thanks! I've only bought a couple things from RTGH, but it's nice to go there and take whacks at all the stuff they have just to check it out, you know?

There are a few from Nevada around.

I suppose Reno and Vegas are like Northern & Southern California though. Kinda far apart.

Welcome aboard!!!

Vegas doesn't count

I'm actually headed down your way this weekend for a conference. Too bad I don't get to take the clubs this time

Maybe we could get a little Nevada TST day going...

    • I’d go with the Titleist if you liked the look of the blades but were suffering with distance. They should be a little more forgiving than a full blade and still retain some workability. Also remember to consider the shafts each have as this will be a big contributor to how they feel. Clemsonfan is right though… get fit or spend a bit of time on a launch monitor 🤙
    • Day 28: 2026.01.30 Managed to make time for a few swings out back today. Need a proper bit of range time this weekend.
    • Day 30, 1/30.  Six minutes this morning hitting a few more range balls, indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Did this before leaving the house.

    • Hi All my New Year’s resolution was to start playing golf again. I’ve caught the bug and am really enjoying hitting balls at a couple of my local ranges.looking forward to getting back out on courses in the spring. Based in the UK and 38 years old, I’ve been playing since I was a kid. Best handicap I’ve held is 2 in my mid 20s. Over the past 10 years I’ve played once or twice a year, sometimes with friends or for work. Could shoot 4-5 over, but just as easily shoot 15-20 over. I’ve moved to South Wales and am very lucky to be near some world class links courses, which gives me even more motivation to get playing again! I will start looking for a local coach in my area when I have more time to invest, but I recalled scouring this forum a few years ago and finding some good tips and advice so wanted to give it a try to see if there were any glaring issues I could fix in the meantime!  A few swings below… one from 1st week Jan and one from today. I have fixed my P1 takeaway to my liking and am now working on what I see as pretty severe early extension & hip thrust. Also terrible hip rotation. I’d like confirmation that this is indeed a problem and and suggestions on a few good drills. Thanks for reading 🙂 I've been Playing Golf for: 30+ years My current handicap index or average score is: 10ish over My typical ball flight is: mid The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: push right with irons, hooks and push with driver!  Videos:
