Specifically speaking with my irons.  Now granted I have been playing several different sets of late.  Mostly for the fact that when I quit the game 11 yrs ago the sets I coveted are now dirt cheap!  So anyways I was playing with a set of forged Lynx today that I bought a month ago or so.  These have a bit thicker top line and are wider soled clubs but with the Lynx R flex graphite shafts and a flat lie which I like in my irons and they have mid size tour velvet grips which I like.  They are a tour grind( I am not positive as to what a tour grind is vs a regular grind)  and they are cavity backed.

Now truth be told I am not to jiggy with a wider soled club.  For some reason it seems that I skull them, worm rape them or lay the sod over the top, and that hurts me hands.  So today at a blistering 96 deg I decide to go to a county course that I like cause it is dirt cheap, excellent greens and a choice of 3 different courses to play.  Luckily a fella on the first let me go off while he waited for his playing partners.

So hit my drive and have a wedge in.  Address the ball and notice for some reason that with these particular clubs I am slightly open at address with the head.  So I'm looking at it and just slightly hooded the club. Punched the ball about 100 yds 3 feet from the pin.  So I look around to see if anybody is looking at what I did on an adjacent green and of course no one is.  Birdie the hole

Well the rest of the round I made it a point to slightly hood these clubs and I gotta tell ya spot on with decent distance but ACCURATE to say the least.  Now I'm thinking to myself the PE 2's I have along with a couple of sets may benefit from the same type of thing.  Slightly hooding the club.  Anyways just a bit of a discovery and was quite pleased on #9 hitting a 5 iron uphill about 185 yds. all carry.  Ok that's it, it's Cream Ale time.

PS  shot a 41, Scotch golf

    • I saw a YouTube review on a bunch of ball brands and the Maxfli Tour X did very well in comparison. I bought a sleeve and found them to be excellent in feel and distance. But I’m a lousy golfer so nobody probably cares about my opinion. 😃
    • There seems to be a lot of buzz around the new Maxfli Tour and TourS balls, especially with a handful of tour pros signing on to play them. My understanding is that the Tour is similar to the Titleist ProV1 and TourS is like the Titleist AVX. Has anyone played them? My main concern is that while I liked the feel and performance of the Maxfli balls of many years ago, I found the paint job on them was lousy. The finish looked a bit faded right out of the box, and after a few holes they had faded even more, and sometimes the paint was actually coming off. I'm hoping to find out if they are using a different factory or improved their paint process.  Opinions, please.
    • Day 298: range session during lunch. Hit balls for about 20 minutes, focusing on start line and curve. Much better than last night. Then did a stack putting session, which was solid (for me).
    • Day 2 (3 May 24) - Played 18 with the Men’s group today….a fun round in which my elderly neighbor was part of the foursome I was in.
    • You advertise LIV as "golf but louder" You had DJ's pumping Jock Jams all over the place. You have Bros who are really into golf and TFG shot gunning 26 oz bud lights, while double fisting a 19 oz coors. What type of behavior do you expect?
