The Ping G20 iron is now up on the Ping website. Do any of you think that there will be a noticeable difference between the G5, G10, G15, and G20. I personally don't think so. Having just purchased a set of new G10's last winter, I couldn't tell a difference between the G10 and G15. I went with the G10 because of price.

The G20 iron looks pretty cool though...

In the bag:

Driver - Taylormade '07 Burner 10.5*

3W & 4h Top Flite XL

Irons - Ping G10 XG black dot 5-9 PW, SW

Wedges - Titleist Spin Milled Vokey 58*

Putter - Ping Karsten Anser 2 33''

If you put the same shaft in it that is in your G10's I doubt you will notice any distance. They do have a new shaft for it so there could be difference there.

Be happy with what you have.

I have the G10's and G15's. I only bought the 15's because I needed a stiffer shaft, the 10's are the soft regular flex. My distance has increased by about 20 yards but I could have done that by reshafting my 10's, just not cost efficient. For what it's worth I think that the G10's are the best looking iron Ping has made. Clean, uncluttered and simple. Also don't forget that they are the last set made in America and the last ones with square grooves. I kept mine since I'll need them sooner than I want to.

As far as the G20's, I think they are extremely ugly but to each his own.

My G15 irons are solidly in my bag - but I think the G20 irons look nice...the G15s are a little busy looking.  The G20 specs read very similar to the G15 so other than aesthetics I'm not sure there would be much difference to justify the $$$.  Although...I may have to try them just to be sure.  I also had the G10 driver and now have the G15 - there was a huge difference in distance for me..curious if the G20 would have equal gains over G15.

The G5/i5s were last made in USA heads, not the 10s.  The 10s and 15s are nearly identical heads and they are the same finish because they are made in the same place.  The 5s have slightly different heads and the old tumble finish...made in USA finish.

That sounds right.

My G10 (xg) heads were made in china and AWT shafts made in USA.

I missed the fact that your G10's are the XG version. Yes, those heads are made in China and have conforming grooves. The original G10's were not made in China, not sure about the headcovers though.

Are you saying the made in USA sticker on my G10's are a lie? Perhaps they lied again when I called to ask questions about my set. They could have even lied when I wanted to have my lie angle changed.

Whatever.
I'm not sure what your problem is but here is Pings #: 800-474-6434. They will be open bright and early tomorrow, give them a call yourself.

I think you just hate Ping for some unknown reason.

But again, whatever, I'm done with you.

Golfsmith shipping begins August 15th. Clubs are usually in store prior to the ship date. I'll check this weekend. I may find them kinda ugly but still want to hit them.

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
