I went from a CG15 52 degree wedge to a Bob Vokey 52 with 8 bounce today.  I was absolutely stunned how well I struck it on the range.  Why wasn't I playing these earlier? I plan on getting a 56 next.  I really love the wedge a lot, can't wait to use  it for the first time tomorrow!

Careful! That wedge has some teeth on it. It will eat your ball up!

I got 2 new Vokeys last year, a 56 and a 60, and it scuffs my ball pretty good, but that's why they sell golf balls by the dozen. Have fun with them tomorrow!

Ryan

I got rid of my vokey's because of the damage they did to the ball.  Mizuno MPT11 is much kinder on balls.  Haven't scuffed one yet with a wedge....

Most new wedges will tear into the ball until they are worn-in.  My vokeys are in their 3rd season and play wonderfully.

    • I appreciate that you have taken the time to come back and update. Based on what was previously discussed I feel like the points were; forged, feel good, price, and possibly players distance. If you like the "looks" of those Maxfli irons and if price is a major point, then going straight to the source, Maltby, might make sense. Specifically, the TS3 iron. I was looking into this myself and found some reviews: Fit2YouGolf, Lets Play Thru, and ELITE FIT GOLF. As per your update I found the Maxfli to be ~$1300 fitted the way I wanted. Where the TS3 with the same fitting and assembled by Golfworks was less than $750. I suppose the downside is to actually hit the iron you will need to get lucky and find someone in your golf circle who will let you hit theirs or order a 6 or 7 iron to test. However, the way I look at that is being equivalent to some fittings. If you like the results and buy, then the fitting is free, otherwise the price of the fitting is a sunk cost. If name brand is important, then I submit for your consideration - THE BEST OVERALL IRON of 2024...... FACT !! 😉 A bit tongue in cheek that but also, I feel some good points were discussed.
    • Day 150 1-10 focus on arching the wrist and getting the ball to go left. Recorded, hit foam balls.
    • Day 467 - 2026-01-10 Practiced at Pinehurst every day I was there, and before Junior Elite this morning I got fifteen minutes of backswing checks in the mirror in.
