I just picked up an Adams Idea Pro 20* hybrid on that unnamed auction site.

The club was new, plastic still on the head, bubble wrap on the head with a sticker with 57651 Y.C. written on it. The headcover was still in sealed plastic and both the club and headcover were in a sealed bag.

I took the club out to look for a serial number, and on the sole it's marked "Tour Prototype".

Anybody want to fathom a guess as to what makes this club different than one that doesn't say "Tour Prototype"?

Should I get the lie and loft checked to make sure my club's specs are as what I thought I was buying?

The club came with a golf pride dual durometer grip, which is not what is listed on Adams' website for this club.

Just wondering,

I'd say that "tour" designated clubs from my experience are usually neutrally weighted internally as a whole. But, they can also have a plethora of differences from off the shelf models like slightly altered face angles, lofts, lies, profiles, etc. The only "tour" clubs I've used besides putters were fairway woods a 906F3 and 904F (the F3 is a bit larger and has a deeper 2-3 degree more open face than the F2 and an opaque paint job. I've heard that the 906F4 is a more shallow version for easier launch). Because of heel bias weighting in the 904F off the shelf model I was able to turn the club over much easier producing a draw(my natural shape is about a 5-7 yard cut with my woods) the "tour" model I hit seemed to be completely neutrally weighted producing my natural shape. Go demo a regular Idea Hybrid and see how it flies. Hope this helps.

    • Day 87 (27 Jul 25) - Made it an easy session with the wedge this afternoon, worked on staying in the shot and not lifting out - split between low spinners and higher floaters.
    • Shot my new low 72 (par 70) today. Had 5 birdies, also a new best, which included a hole out from the bunker on par 3 6th, and another hole out pitch from 15ish yards on the long par 4, 15th.  Got a couple of other good breaks. Except for an OB drive on 14th (and ensuing double bogey), not much went wrong. All in all I might have used up a year's worth of luck in a single day.
    • Back in the saddle after vacation.  Day 1: played 18. Did not have it, but still battled to an 82. Felt closer to a 90, but that’s fine.
    • Yes, I have seen this from the older crowd that play the 4,700 yard tees and want to know why they get less strokes from there. Always trying to game the system 🤣
    • Day 300 - 2025-07-27 Good 44-ball segment. GSPro was acting goofy, so I just put it on the Quad. Then I hit a bunch of low spinners. Hit 14° down to 9.8° down, with the average closer to 12.3° or so. Focused mostly on the backswing. Right knee good, hands roll up and out a little before laying off (FAR).
