Hi, Im new here. I am working on improving my game and have got to fix my outside to in swing.

I was curious what others have done to fix it that has worked for them.  Does the towel under

the right arm help create and in to out swing? Also have been trying to put a tee or ball to the left and front

of my ball and one to the right and back about 10 inches or so.

Anyways thanks for the help.

A lot of the advice you hear about swinging inside to out is centered around starting the swing with your lower body. While this is of course the correct way to swing, you can start the swing with the lower body and still come over the top.

The way I learned to hit from inside is to understand two things:

1. The shaft plane - Put a mirror behind you (perpendicular to the target line) and take a club and get into a good address position. Put some tape on the mirror so that it covers the shaft in the mirror (this is your plane). Swing back and through. In most good backswings, the club shaft will stay on plane until it's about waist high (or higher), and then go above the plane but remain parallel to it. On the downswing, the club shaft needs to come back to the plane. If you are above the plane at impact, you are hitting the ball from the outside-in.

2. The "butt" line (I'm sure there's a better technical term for this!) - On the same mirror, put some tape where you butt is at address. At impact, most good golfers have their butts on or pretty close to that line. If you stand up (your butt moves toward the ball) you usually don't have room to swing from inside.

Hope this helps!
