I paid the $$$ for a fitting, but it wasn't the Platinum. However, if they do all they set out to do, you should learn a lot and have a good experience.

The Golf Galaxy pro gave me a fitting...I think it was the Aluminum fitting.

I was disappointed that some of the equipment they wanted to use wasn't working properly.

The shaft analyzer didn't work right...

The first video booth we went to didn't work right either...

The well-qualified employee doing the fitting seemed distracted since I needed to repeat myself, telling him things that he should have noted on the fitting form.

Yet, in spite of all this, I did learn a bit. I later had a local pro do this with me and we discovered that they weren't accurate in determining the shaft that worked best with my swing.

I have an issue with any indoor fitting regardless of whatever technology they have.

Regarding lie angle, I really need to see not only the ball flight but also the divot and how I am striking the ball off grass

Indoor fittings all depend on the calibration of the equipment and the skill of the fitter. A good launch monitor and a good fitter can get you systematic data on ball height, line (hook to fade), ball speed, launch angle, lie board, etc.

I agree with Jaywalk, in that hitting the irons on grass helps you make the best final decision. But, I would suggest that the launch monitor is the best way to narrow down to finalists.

Golf Galaxy stores with a stable workforce would tend to do a good job on fittings. Career GG personnel go to industry trade schools to get training on club repair and fitting. Got a super driver fitting two years ago - I bought a new driver at GG, so launch monitor sequence was free.

Not saying all GG stores are perfect - just that the ones I've visited have good people. Also, the junior player's reps tend to hand me off to the pro or the head clubsmith if I have really technical questions.

Focus, connect and follow through!
