Is this shaft gold plated? Anyone tried this shaft? Is it really worth the price?

No it's not gold plated but it sure would be nice I am a fan of the OZIK shafts and offer them at my shop. The materials, workmanship and quality of these shafts are amazing. There are other more affordable models within the OZIK line than the Matrix OZIK TP-7 that you are mentioning like the TP-6 (Used by Charles Howell III), the Altus, XCON, Code and many more.

The OZIK shafts are like many other things in this world, take for instance a Rolex vs Timex, they both tell time, it's just in the manner or the presentation that they do. Heck even a broken watch is correct twice a day

i had a very similar thread awhile ago, and while ive never hit one Gascan (a very well informed and respected member) seemed to not be too thrilled with them. while he said that they were unparalleled in their craftsmenship and build, for around 1000 better shafts could be had. he said the ozik reduced side spin to a small degree. i think he recommeneded the ACCRA line of shafts, which like every other company seem to be way way cheaper than Matrix.
anyways they can be had on ebay for around 350 bucks

It's like a lot of things, it's worth what you are willing to pay. Manufacturing costs are usually higher for premium items but that doesn't always account for the complete price difference. If someone is willing to pay $1000 for something that is possibly only worth $400 but it makes them feel better about their purchase and or the world in general then let it be. If the customer is happy to pay the price and happy with what he gets where is the damage?

I saw on TV a while a go a story about a guy in New York I think it was making and selling a hamburgers for $100, personally I'd buy one just so I could say that I had and I bet a LOT of people buy them for just that reason. I would expect it to taste pretty good, but I wouldn't expect it to be totally incomparable to anything else. I'd know I was getting ripped off but getting value for money wouldn't be the point of buying it in the first place now would it?

Obviously, different strokes for different folks. $100 for the hamburger for you, I got no problem with that. $100 for a hamburger for me? BIG PROBLEM. Now, if I were to win the big jackpot in PowerBall sometime soon, maybe the $100 hamburger (or Ozik shafts) and a lot of other things very well could come into play. I could get used to that.
