played last night, and came away very very satisfied, bar the first tee where i shot 5 of the tee my drives where straitish (playable and not lost!) and 200-250yards long!

im chuffed with my short game after watching phil micklesons secrets of the short game a few times i took what i saw to the course relaxed, and wow i played a blinder inside 100yards my mate was shocked with how i was playing wrong side of bunkers and a close pin, i'll just flop got it to within 2ft! mate was stunned as everytime he tried it he'd blade it and it would shoot off at warp speed, that said the flop did fail me a cpl of time where i got to much under and not enough distance and i landed in the bunker! but phil's dvd had me semi equipped to get out!

best shot of the day about 50yds short 20yds left of the pin relaxed and following phils guide, steep angle of attack on the ball popped it up pin high as soon as it hit the green one bonuce took all off the speed off the ball and trickled to 6" of the pin, again mate was speechless haha

even tho i shot 111 10stroke over my pb i came away so god damn happy, but with practice and the confidence i have after watching phils dvd and being able to mostly go out onto the course and apply what i had soaked up is fantastic, would of shot better it it hadnot of been for my putting! happy chappy!!

    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
    • Day 580 - 2026-05-04 Played eight holes. Sometimes golf kicks you in the nuts. 😉
