Hi everyone,

I live in Mechelen, Belgium and playing golf since October last year. Saturday is my second qualifying game, I hope I can improve my handicap. My dream is to travel and play on the many beautiful golf courses around the world en meeting other passionate golfers. Looking forward to reading your posts and advice.

Jan

Welcome fellow countryman.  Looking at your nickname, I can't help but wonder if you are in IT / Linux by any chance ?

Hi BCGolf, also from province of Antwerp, city Mechelen. (Mostly running MS but still have one pc wiht ubuntu. Started to use Linux redhat a few years ago, and before that free BSD) I am a member of golfclub de Wijnvelden.

Great place indeed... especially Oostende and Bruges.  We sailed an ISAF World Championship there and enjoyed Belgium and her people.  I will never forget an elderly man who came up to me and said, "American?"  I said yes and he smiled and said, "We will never forget -- thank you."  He was apparently alive during WWII.  It was an unexpected and touching scene.  I was also told that what we call French Fries originated in Belgium and should be called Belgium Fries.

Enjoy your golf here and whereever you travel.

    • After a bit of a lean spell managed to birdie stroke hole one, long par five. Ball striking best it’s been for a while short game exactly the opposite. Had so many opportunities to post good scores last three or four games, failed miserably😀
    • Would You Rather #69 For this question let's assume you are playing whatever tournament is important to you.  Would you rather finish second in your tournament but be remembered for a huge mistake you make right at the end.  or  Would you rather play solidly in your tournament, but you still finish outside the top 25, and are never really in contention.  Incidentally, this happed to a friend of mine many years ago at the tournament I play every year. He was leading the tournament coming into the last hole, where he took two to get out of a greenside bunker and then three-putted his way to second place. He hasn't really been in contention again since.
    • I hate that I agree with this. But the guy is like a Ferrari with four flat tires trying to go 200 mph. Bad things can only come from that. He turns 50 on December 30th. I wonder how long Golf Cart Tiger lasts out there.
    • When you’ve resorted to this type of stuff, hang ‘em up.
