Has anyone bought Snake Eyes or non-mainstream irons that conform to the new groove rules?

All,

Thanks to all of you for your responses. I researched each lead and suggestion. My research landed me in Golf Galaxy. They fitted me for free and told me that the clubs I would end up with at Golf Galaxy, would be the SAME price or MORE with LESS technology as new BRAND NAME clubs that they had on their floor. All the Brand Name clubs I saw were about $899 and higher so  I didn't believe that was possible. Dbwood's estimates were very close to the figures I had with Golfsmith, which is 80 plus miles away. Golf Galaxy fitted me, found me to be .5 inch longer than standard and 1 degree upright. Next they told me the adjustments would be free, I just need to pay for the clubs and new grips ( I need midsize anyway). Then they gave me my advantage club member benifit and $50 discount coupon for purchasing over $200. End result? I pick up my brand new Adams A7 hybrid irons, 3hy through PW, regular flex steel shafts, on Saturday for $357. Guess I was wrong. We will see how they play Sunday.

Thanks Again for all your responses.

Hey SA good going there! The fitting was smart and them being able to adjust the clubs for you right there is awesome. Sounds like you got a great deal for some really nice clubs.

Thank You, I haven't taken my new clubs to the Links yet. I took them to the driving range one time. I want to put in some more time at the driving range because now I am standing taller and have a tendency to "dip my shoulder" probably because my old set was shorter. I don't have to swing as hard now, and that helps a lot. Hopefully I will get rid of some of my old swing habits by this weekend so that I can take them out for their first round. Wish me luck.

You should have gone with the new M-series from KZG. Affordable forged irons and I have to tell you..SPECTACULAR! Maybe it was just a lucky day, but the clubs felt great and I made some great hits. I know they are not sold everywhere, they are selective as to who they sell to according to my fitter. They make sure the fitters they are selling to have the latest technology and years of expierience. Also if you were looking forcast irons, the OC-II are nice and affordable as well. Im surprised nobody has mentioned this brand.

Anyway i hope your new clubs work out for you. Its always a great feeling getting new club!

"Shoulder down" is one of the 6 keys in the "Stack and Tilt Swing" book. You just don't want to dip your spine angle. However, this is off-topic. There are many threads here on the S&T; if you are interested.

    • I got another one today....Number 17. Par 5 that has water left and right on the layup. I smacked a drive down the left side and got a little lazy on the layup and fanned my 6 iron. With 112 to a crowned green I got it to 3 feet and birdie!  Only 5 and 15 is left for this year!
    • Maybe I didn’t explain this properly. Back and front can be confusing.  There was no place in the bunker that didn’t have 2-3 inches of rain water in it, except for a small spot on the slope nearest the pin. If I had dropped there I would be moving 6-7 feet closer to the hole. Since my ball was just inside the bunker, farthest side from the hole, I dropped one club length backward, which brought me out of the bunker. I could not have hit from that deep of water. Are you saying I would have had to take a penalty stroke due to rain water?
    • Day 550, May 5, 2024 Got a good hour in with a typical (for me) two-stick setup: pool noodle angled in front, yardstick on the ground angled 45° behind me.
    • Day 130: Cinco de Mayo Day 7/24 of Full Speed Spectrum training. Difficult training day after struggling to certify my warmup yesterday, and today. Finished 13 mph lower than my training speed on Thursday. Hope to hit some balls today.
    • Yeah, I think I misread that part. I read "in front of" and kinda skipped the rest.
