I am looking to buy my first golf club set. I have previously used my fathers set, and then my mothers which is too short for me and is 17 years old. Im surprised I even reached a 20 handicap with this Mitsubishi MV2 set!

I know my clubs need to be regular length and regular-stiff flex. I want these clubs to last 5 years before I upgrade. Here is my pick:

Wilson Prostaff 11 piece set http://www.amazon.com/Wilson-Mens-Pro-Staff-Piece/dp/B0021L8WJM (except for $179.99)

Nike everclear E-22 putter http://shop.pgatour.com/clubs/nike/putter/everclear-e22/p_pd-1019662.aspx?gd=1 .

Callaway Stand-Bag: http://shop.pgatour.com/bag/callaway/stand/hyperlite-40/p_pd-1018585.aspx?opt=aad&gd;=2

Is this set suitable for me?

Are there any other sets for under $300 in total which you would reccommend?

In my personal opinion, If your looking for a hybrid set of clubs,  for $300 you could buy a set of barely used Adams clubs , like the AOS 3, AOS4 or AOS7 for that price and you will be very pleased... I found my set , like new on Ebay and won the auction for $189.00 .. When I got them I hated the 3,4,5 cause they were too big and I sold them back on ebay for $80. ..So I ended up paying $109 for the Adams 6-pw... It has been the best hundred bucks i ever spent...  I recommend going to your local golf store and hitting a few different clubs to see what you like....If you have a Dick's Sporting Goods anywhere near you, go and check out the line of Adams

.........In My Bag........
Driver = FT-IQ Tour
2,3,4 = Iron/Wood = Bazooka Jmax

Putter = T.P. Mills
Irons = A4 OS..Wedges = Pure Spin..Cart Bag = .....Stand Bag = Bennington

Unfortunately I live in Belgium, which does not have many golf stores. I did find shops where they do club fitting in the Netherlands, but they do not have any clubs that I would want to buy. The ones they do have costs about $500 online, except in the shops it costs about 1000 euros. I also want new clubs, dont like buying second hand equipment. They dont have a large range of brand names as well.

Ive decided to go to a club fitting store. I believe the Callaway X-20 irons are a better choice than the wilson prostaff set, especially after hearing that a customer bought the set, and after a couple of hits the driver had a dent in it. One such quality review is enough for me to turn away. But now I have a problem with filling my bag with a clubs. Only irons 4-AW I need a driver, hybrid, putter and SW. Any recommendations based on this?

Ive decided I am perpared to spend $500 in total for quality. 300 on irons, 90 on putter, 110 on driver, and shit, i have no hybrid or SW

    • Its not. They are just giving an example in a situation say if cant reach it. Example, You have 230 to the center of the green, you cant hit a club you have that far, so you whip out a 3/5 wood or whatever, but you have to hit it soft because there is trouble in front of the green, a bunker or water. A full swing would land you in the trouble. You want to lay up as close to the green as you can. So you aren't hitting a full shot with that club so for distance tracking you can make that shot a provisional and it wont affect the distance stats.

    • I had a 5 wood.  Now have moved onto hybrids and have a 4 hybrid.  As I get older a more lofted hybrid and/or 7 and 9 woods will come into my bag.  I have learnt that as swing speed declines, loft is your friend
