Trying to interest my spouse in golf, I bought her some used clubs.  (For the second time.  First set somebody permanently borrowed.  Moral:  if you don't use your clubs, they may just disappear on you.)

Now let me tell you, I'm not Dr. Phil, but by emulating him I managed to elicit the information  grudgingly shared that my wife had taken a PE golf class in college.   I infer the experience left her psychologically scarred and turned off as to golf.  Made a mental note to work on these issues in the near future ("Ah, now, vhat iz ze source of theez hostility to golf?"), but for now until the mental blocks are resolved and a cure effected her clubs are sitting there gathering dust.

Were gathering dust.   I picked them up and tried chipping and pitching with them.  So light, so flexible.  Neat little clubheads.   Feel so good in the hand.

They're not expensive.  In fact they are cheapo Northwestern irons, with stainless steel clubheads made like woods or hybrids.    So small, so light, so ...

Darn it, I want to play with them.

We're anonymous here, right?   Am I the only one with this compulsion?

And will I be laughed off the course if I do use them?

As long as you play well no one will say anything. I played myself with Mitsubishi golf clubs from 17 years ago (my moms) except I hit decent shots with them. No-one cared. Yes I did upgrade to Taylormade cb irons (hitting almost double the distance xD) but that was a feel issue. Use them with confidence. Do get fitted, it helped me alot! You might find even better clubs.

Earlier this year, I was struggling something awful with grounding my driver.     I got so sick of it, I actually bagged my wifes driver - it was 3 inches shorter & shot some of my best scores of the year.     I've since got my driver back under control, but my buddies ragged me about carrying a ladies driver until I was on the fairway more than they were & scored better with it ...

I enjoy going golfing with my girlfriend however she has only played a handful of times. We were on the tee box and I was attempting to help her with her alignment. I took her driver (Generic walmart box set) and striped a beautiful drive over the trees just cutting the corner on a dog leg and landing in the middle of the fairway for a 70 yard shot to the green. While keeping all the composure I could muster, I just looked at her and said, "Just duplicate that and you will be fine". (I couldnt do that shot again if I stood there with a bucket of balls, her driver, my driver and YOUR driver!)

Funny, there's the whole Gentlemen Only Ladies Forbidden (GOLF) crowd & I guess its the same as the guys who go to the bar to get away from their wives ... I thoroughly enjoy playing golf with my wife - we play at least once a week together, usually more ... I guess I'm lucky.

Up until two years ago I didn't play with a driver (10+ years of irons only).  My wife and I were on the range one day earlier this year and I tried to hit her driver.  I hit great shots but the flex was so much I was going to break it.

In my bag:

Driver: Covert Performance
Super Hybrid : :nike: 2H - 17* Covert Performance

Irons: :nike:Covert 4I - PW

Wedges: :nike:X3X Wedges (52*, 56*, 60*)

Putter: Method Core 1i

Ball: :nike:One RZN

Upgrading Always.
