Looking at a set of Callaway X20 irons with the True Temper S300 shafts. Was wondering if I could get some opinions about these shafts. They seem heavy in comparison to what I had been using, but the guru says I need stiff shafts. Can't afford to have what I currently own reshafted but I came across a really good deal on the X20's. They are used in good condition, just need to be regripped.

It's not who you are in life, but what you do and how you treat others that makes the difference.......

Depends on which True Temper S300 you have. Given when the X20 irons came out, it's likely one of these three:

Dynamic Gold: 130 grams, low launch (fairly heavy)

Dynamic Gold SL: 106 grams, low launch (lighter variation)

Dynalite Gold:  120 grams, high launch

If you have some clubhead speed, it should work out OK, because X20 head gets the ball up well, w/o ballooning. Note: A Dynalite shaft might give too much lift.

(I played X20 in Unflex - between R and Stiff and about 106 grams: Uniflex was midkick). Hopefully you can test hit the X20s first.

X20 heads larger, a bit klunky out of rough. Good benefit: Dull-nickel finish looks nice, doesn't show bag wear much.

Focus, connect and follow through!

had the dynamic gold s300 and they produced a very low ball flight for me. I personally didn't like the weight factor. felt way heavier than the kbs tours I play now. played them for 8 years in my dci 762's. when I changed those out to the kbs tours in the same set it was like a whole different set of irons.
