Hi everybody,

I have a Swing question and I hope you can help me with it. I filmed myself and what I have seen looks in some Parts wrong.

I am Shaking my hips like a Mad Salsa Dancer!

It is not the 90° Shoulder Rotation / 45° Hip Rotation in the Backswing that Tiger has, it is more 100° Schoulder to 60° Hips and when it comes to the Downswing, I turn my Hips a lot earlier then Mister Woods does, which means I come from the Outside in my Downswing pulling my arms a little bit up to prevent a fat Cut Shot.

Do you have any good drills that stop me from doing this?

I tried a "Feets together, Full Swing" Drill, but perhaps there is something better.

Thanks in advance

Do some one legged drills.

1. Take your stance and setup with the ball off your left toe. Keep all of the weight on your left foot and side as you slide your right foot onto the very tip of your toe well back behind your left heel with your feet separated about 12-18". Now take your swing and hit the golf ball while your right foot remains up on the toe and not letting the heel down at any time.

2. Do the same as above except move the ball back in your stance and keep the weight on your right foot and side with your left toe pulled back and heel off the ground. Strike the ball without dropping your left heel at any point.

Do maintain your balance to prevent falling over on your arse and having people on the range howling with laughter as you roll around on the ground.

Seriously, this will work.

P.S. I also think you should stop listening to your ipod that's playing Gloria Estefan songs while you're hitting. It may have something to do with the "salsa hips". "Come on baby...come on baby...do da conga"

Sound's as if you may also be sliding your hips laterally towards the target hence the 'fat cut'. Try keeping most of your weight on the back foot and TURN your hips and arms in sync, ie. dont try to create power with your body. Drill: Get a chair or something and take yor normal posture except rest your front foot on the chair and hit some balls. You should get the sensation of staying behind the ball more and osing the shoulders for power. (I used to have this problem!)

Do some one legged drills.

I used your toe up drill that last few times at the range. What a killer drill !!! I was having some issues and this drill has really helped me. It has slowed my swing pace, which had sped up over time. It also keeps my lower body quiet which was another issue I was having. What I didn't expect is it has givin me a slight draw. With the back foot dropped and heel up it really clears a path for the club to come from the inside and gives me the in to out feel. I have actually been using this as a practice swing to give me the correct feel before I hit the ball.

hammerTyme();
stop();

Hmm LeadTap that sounds like an interesting drill to warm up with. Im going to try it :D. I'll let you know how it worked out for me today.

    • Day 133: did a stack session.
    • You can pre-order an R50 here for pretty rapid shipping (these are back-ordered almost everywhere): https://www.playbetter.com/products/garmin-approach-r50-golf-launch-monitor-simulator?ghref=2301%3A700794. This is an affiliate purchase, and I'm willing to kick back lifetime ad-free Supporter membership here on TST or a 90-minute GEARS session for the cost of a regular member lesson (about 1/3 the cost). Also, I'll record a video myself soon when I get an R50.

    • Day 209 (27 Nov 24) - Easy session with the LW - short pitches replicating greens side up and downs. Finished up with the 7i and hard foam balls - making 1/2 to 3/4 swings with deliberately slowed tempo…from varied lies.
    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
