Hi all,

I need a little help, my daughter is attending college and is studying a sports degree in golf. She is having a little trouble getting around the scoring system in stableford games.

Does anyone know of anything I can get her like a carry card which helps work out the score against SI and handicap.

Thanks in advance :)

The schoolteacher was taking her first golfing lesson. "Is the word spelt p-u-t or p-u-t-t?" she asked the instructor. "P-u-t-t is correct," he replied. "Put means to place a thing where you want it. Putt means merely a vain attempt to do the same thing."

A sports degree in golf and she can't work out stableford? Must be a great course she's doing..... Oh well...................

It is very simple -

For each hole you play to your handicap you get 2 points

1 under your handicap you get 3 points

2 under your handicap you get 4 points

1 over your handicap you get 1 point

More than i over uyour handicap you get 0 points.

If her handicap is 9, she has to par the 9 easiest holes to score 2 points each for those holes.

An 18 handicapper gets 1 shot per hole.

For each bogey that's 2 points, double bogeys 1 point pars 3 points and birdies 4 points. Triple bogey or worse 0 points.

If your handicap is 19, you get 2 shots on the hardest rated hole on the course. A 20 handicap gets 2 shots the two hardest holes and so on.

If you play off 12, there are 6 holes (the six easiest according to the indexes) that you have to par to get 2 points

If your handicap is +1, you have to birdie the easiest hole to get 2 points.

36 points overall is playing to your handicap.

The only "carry card" she needs is the scorecard, which shows the ratings.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Hi, Sorry I didnt explain myself properly.

I understand stableford, what I wanted to know is there some sort of card like some players carry with them to work the difference of handicaps out etc at the beginning of matches but so show the points system.

Thanks for your help.

    • I appreciate that you have taken the time to come back and update. Based on what was previously discussed I feel like the points were; forged, feel good, price, and possibly players distance. If you like the "looks" of those Maxfli irons and if price is a major point, then going straight to the source, Maltby, might make sense. Specifically, the TS3 iron. I was looking into this myself and found some reviews: Fit2YouGolf, Lets Play Thru, and ELITE FIT GOLF. As per your update I found the Maxfli to be ~$1300 fitted the way I wanted. Where the TS3 with the same fitting and assembled by Golfworks was less than $750. I suppose the downside is to actually hit the iron you will need to get lucky and find someone in your golf circle who will let you hit theirs or order a 6 or 7 iron to test. However, the way I look at that is being equivalent to some fittings. If you like the results and buy, then the fitting is free, otherwise the price of the fitting is a sunk cost. If name brand is important, then I submit for your consideration - THE BEST OVERALL IRON of 2024...... FACT !! 😉 A bit tongue in cheek that but also, I feel some good points were discussed.
